MM1: Defiant Sid.

Aggie, I've not played at all yet, so if you can play before Sunday then take it. :)

In case you hadn't thought of this... Raze all of Lincoln's cities and the stacks will disappear in an unimpressive puff of invisible smoke.

I'm just thinking that killing wondering units would be very tough since Lincoln has a swarm of them. If they are not going to reinforce the defenders in the city, may be just leave them alone. When we raze cities, may be this would prevent America from building more units and would decrease the rate of their appearance on the battleground. It would be interesting out of pure curiosity to build Intelligence Agency and see how many spearmen Arabs have in their military. Bet less than a thousand. :)

Sure Aggie we'd love to have you back.

Now comes a humble question... Could I please join this SG again? I got back from my holiday refreshed and I must say that my enthousiasm for this SG has returned.

 :rotfl:

I knew it! (TM) But it's still faster than I thought!

My enthusiasm has however diminished a bit, as you can see I only have 4 games running.

We could just ignore wandering troops and take out cities but we would need to get all of them for the troops to disappear. That means getting those far out Islands. I was thinking that we could just wipe out their main Island and keep them around to steal/trade techs. I'd really like combustion to move the 4 man armies and facilitate our final domination win. With the stack of arty and Cav armies we have we could probably wipe them out pretty quickly. Those were my thoughts anyway.

IHT: Things are looking great. I didn't think that America would be so easily crippled. You showed me that I was too pestimistic :) Armies are even stronger than I thought. I will probably attack New Orleans, New York and Seattle, but it depends on how things are going. It's good to see that the original island of America is now far from the new core and corrupt, be it corrupt at Sid.

IT: We lose one cav on the American soil, which couldn't be saved anyway. Bergen finishes cavalry and I switch it to army. Why weren't we building them? [1-0]

Turn 1 (1660 AD) I assume that we are only interested to trade or get Espionage, Steel, Refining and Combustion for now, so I won't try a deal with Egypt to get Medicine.

Boston:
-arty redlines 2 rifles and a guerilla
-5/5 cav vs 1/4 rifle: 0-5, rifle wins and promotes
-arty redlines the rifle again
-4/5 cav vs 1/4 rifle: 1-2, cav wins
-4/5 cav vs 1/4 guerilla: 1-3, cav wins
-4/5 cav vs 1/3 rifle: 1-0, cav wins and Boston is razed for 64 gold.

Berzerk army pillages, arty pounds on American rifles and guerilla, the wounded armies heal [4-1]

IT: No American attacks. It's really sick to see huge numbers of troops avoid a cav army.

Turn 2 (1665 AD) Army rushed in Bergen for 1480 gold.

Wandering American troops (1 cav, 2 guerillas and 1 rifle) either protect a settler or block our route to New York. So they are redlined and killed by elite troops. We generate a leader in the process. More and more troops land in America [8-1].

IT: We sink an American galleon and build an army in Bergen [9-1].

Turn 3 (1670 AD) The leader is turned into a cav army. The other army will be filled with cavalry as well. They are faster than infantry and also not attacked by the Americans. So there's little choice there.

4 guerilla and 5 rifles block the road to New York, so they are redlined and killed without losses, generating a 2nd leader in my turns.

We are now ready to attack both New York and Seattle :hammer: When those cities fall we will be able to occupy this continent. [18-1]

IT: America bombards our zerk army and lands 2 infs and 2 guerillas on our northern shores.

Turn 4 (1675 AD) Our leader turns into a cav army. A new army is rushed in Bergen for 1480 gold. Ouch  New York is defended by AT LEAST 23 rifles and a guerilla. Possbily more, but I ran out of artillery to find out :(

Cav armies take out 8 vet rifles and retreat from another (all backed by guerilla), so that makes it at least 33 defenders in the city after this attack wave... [30-1]

IT: America decides to move 5 units out of New York. Bergen finishes an army.

Turn 5 (1680 AD) New York has 27 rilfes and 15 guerillas. Our artillery manages to hurt all of them. I decide to have a healing round and attack New York next turn.

Turn 6 (1685 AD) Army rushed. New York still has 27 rilfes and 15 guerillas. Cav armies take out 15 rilfes, 1 cav and 8 guerillas. Normal troops kill 12 rilfes and 1 guerilla. We in return lose 5 elite cavs and 1 inf. But we gain a leader. [67-7]

IT: America moves three units out of New York :p

Turn 7 (1690 AD) 5 guerillas are redlined and the barracks destroyed. Then our armies manage to kill the guerillas and raze New York. We lose a cav army there though. The remaining artillery shows that Seattle is only defended by 7 units. [72-11]

IT: America builds two new cities and drops 4 units in or northern beaches.

Turn 8 (1695 AD) The four American invaders are easily killed and an army is rushed. Armies kill 8 guerillas, 9 rifles and 2 cavs and we raze Seattle for 131 gold :D . We probably will lose a cav army in the IT though. War weariness just jumped to a higher level, so lux goes to 50%[97-11].

IT: We lose a cav army, as expected [97-15]

Turn 9 (1700 AD) I send a couple of settlers to America and redline a lot of their wandering troops. Then an elite cav attacks and this gives us what I was hoping for. My fourth leader :) [100-15]

I end here, to make it a nice round number. I leave the next player with 4 settlers on the American continent and a leader.

I agree with keeping America alive on that small island in the south. They are the perfect trading partner: tiny but advanced.

In my turns I largely ignored the American troops outside the cities, just like they ignored my armies. However, I did kill a few units for leaderfishing purposes. I didn't settle, because I didn't want to trigger the Americans to attack our cities. Armies within cities WILL be attacked. Otoh a city with a harbor and barracks will speed things up consiberably.

America is becoming a non-issue. I expect to see us occupy their starting island in no-time.

EDIT: By the way: not only didn't the Americans attack any of the healthy armies, they also IGNORED the fortified vet and unfortified elite infantry units, because their strongest attack was cavalry only. I assume that the reason is the same for all cases. We are basically safe until tanks. A reminder why I got fed up with the AI battle mechanics of C3C :( They DID attack an unfortified vet infantry, but the unfortified elite infantry was safe.

Looks good Aggie. With America's capitol 1/2 a world away we should be able to clear this Island pretty quickly. I'd say we get to combustion and then take out Arabia and maybe some other small Islands to get to the domination limit.

Anarres is up

Anarres Do you have it?

Yes, but unfortunatly I get about 30 mins a night at the PC atm. :(

I can definitely play on Sat at the latest, and if you guys can wait I would love to play it. :)

You should start a sweepstakes on how far I will get. groucho

preturn (1705AD):: I find several cities that need conscripts drafting, and many corrupt cities are using low-food-high-shield tiles when there are spare 4 food tiles around...

I also attack the 1hp stack of American units with the armies and a couple of infs in America.

AI: Persia and America sign peace treaty. America sends lots of units at our cities, but none can reach. Over 15 cavs can hit next turn, and about 50 rifles/infs are in sight.

Turn 1 (1705AD): AARRRRGGGGGHHHHHH!!!! There are galleons on automove! Not only that but one that has just moved so we can get 4 less units on the American island this turn!

I build a couple of cities on the American island and do some more rushing in our corrupt cities.

Out Gems return from Persia, by giving them the Corporation.

AI: About 50 American units come for us, but they are mostly slow units and it will take them from 3 to 6 turns to reach us.

Turn 2 (1710AD): Kill all the units we can see, and move in a settler in to position. Among the US units were about 20 Cavs - I think this was their whole force of fast units, since their only source of horses is disconnected now.

AI: More units come for us, but all slow.

Turn 3 (1715AD): We take Philladelpiha (a size 15 city) with just Cav armies, which this gives us a 7th lux! :D

Several more cities are founded, and more settlers move in to place while most units heal. We killed about 30 or 40 units this turn, and another 60+ are now in sight...

Turn 4 (1720AD): With our 5 healed Cav armies I take the only city we can reach - San Francisco. With it goes Leos, and we truely are barbaric as we have just wiped out all the wonders of the world.

Since the cities are actually relatively poorly defended by America I send in a couple of settler via boats along the coast, and workers in from our cities. All tiles are defeneded by armies or elite infs.

AI: I can see over 100 units now, but none can reach our cities. The tiles with workers and settlers are in reach but ignored.

4 units land on the old Japanese island. Our 2 armies there will take care of that.

Turn 5 (1725AD): Wow - we have 11 Cav armies now (I rushed an army this turn). With 11 fully healed armies America crumbles. In the SE of the island the tiles are not pillaged, so as we take their cities we can move in our own and on to the next city.

Fast and furious the last 5 American cities on the island fall, leaving about 100 units in 3 seperate stacks, and a few assorted other units around!

The rest will have to wait, but it's a good start. :D
