mm15: Berserk Bismarck- AWM-1CC

Which makes this post my "re-got it".

Umm... I don't think razing UN destroys the Elections etc.

Excerpts from the German press between 2000 and 2010 AD:

Chancellor’s inaugural speech, 2000, as printed in “Berlin Youth”

The German war machine is in perfect condition! Our borders are patrolled by a navy without peers, our panzers are dreaded on every island! Before us all grows, behind us everything burns!

They call us backward. They think us madmen, for staying in our beautiful city of Berlin – but where else would anyone want to live? They think us berserk, for warring with the world for the last six thousand years – but how else is a man’s worth measured, if not in the most ancient test of all?

We go where we want, we take what we want. And today we will show them what we can do to them. They look to America as the leader of the world, the most advanced, the most populuous... the most decadent and corrupt! We shall tear them apart like a pack of dogs, working together, taking down a bear!

Frontline News, 2002

I cannot tell you how it feels, to stand here, amidst the ruins of the American capital of Washington. No words can explain the simple joy in my heart at the sight of our hated foe’s city down in flames. Their government fled the city and moved to Philadelphia – the cowards! Our troops are moving back onto transports, ready for more action, their faces proud, their panzers gleaming.

It is a happy day for Germany.

Interview with the German ambassador to UN, 2004, as printed in Realpolitik journal

Well, mostly it’s just about the most boring place in the world – I’m sitting around a bunch of foreigners, and I’m not allowed to shoot them when they annoy me, which is pretty much all the time. It’s all “Buddha says no fighting” from everyone except the Chinese, who keep talking about cheeks – sheesh! I tell them about Shiva, Destroyer Of Worlds, but, no, they won’t listen to me!

Anyway, they had this thing where they voted for all people to be equal and have equal voting rights. I told them that we were fine in Germany, had the world’s oldest parliament system when they were just a bunch of tribes, and didn’t need any of that rubbish, but that Katya chick… what else can I say?

So we are a democracy now.

Frontline News, special edition, 2005

Ah, the city of New Orleans, built by the Americans on the eastern seafront! Although it was quite an embarrassing mistake for the main force to have missed it a year earlier (they were speeding towards the north of the island and didn’t notice it), our secondary army of four panzer divisions showed up right in time, and with bombardment support from our fleet, destroyed this city!

Panzer Heroes Monthly, 2005, published by “Little Hans Toy Company”

But Sergeant Gustav was a brave man, and he did not run at the sight of the American hordes in Seattle. His lone tank stood against the countless enemies, and shot down each and every one of them. Planes could not shoot him, rockets could not hit him, soldiers could not touch him. And when the last enemy was dead, he just sat down and rested, while his soldiers crowded around him, asking him how he was able to do so much, and fight so well, and destroy Seattle all by himself, while he merely smiled.

For he had a son back home, and he would never disappoint him.

Interview with the German ambassador to UN, 2008, as printed in Realpolitik journal

So, what’s been happening? Well, the Americans are screaming at me quite often these days. Last week some of their junior members of staff tried to pick a fight with my aides. So we shot them. That was fun!

Oh, on the political front, they wanted to elect someone to rule the whole world. Like we care! Anyway, it was a toss-up between the Persian boss, because he’s got a funky beard, and always pays for the drinks, and Katya, because… well you don’t need me to explain, right? I mean, you guys have been printing her pictures every month to boost sales, and what are you planning for next year? A centerfold? Hell yeah, I’ll subscribe!

Oh, that vote came to nothing by the way.

Frontline News, 2009

And the brave German forces have done it again! The city of San Francisco is no more! Believe it or not, the only American city left on this island is their capital of Philadelphia! Oh no, we seem to have run out of celebration Weissbier and Bratwurst! Oh no, what shall we do? Will we be forced to eat these horrible hamburgers we found in the ruins of the city?

---

And that’s all for me. 2010 AD was a consolidation year. Rosy has a lot of Gunships in Philly, so taking it would be very painful. Cathy is likely to win Diplo victory soon, as Rosy was the only who supported Cyrus, and she’s close to the threshold. Since we’re playing Kingmakers here, why not go whole hog, and kick Cyrus around a bit, let the Russians win?

Or just have some fun, and waste whoever you like.

Note – I’ve broken up the Zip file into two. Rename the second one from “.z01.zip” into “.z01” and unzip.

Good job, and fun read! :goodjob: You are really kicking the ass out of the Americans!!! :)

Hmm... multi-part zip ... been awhile since I last seen them ... (like back in the 3.5inch floppies days) :D

You might already know it, but actually, you could use the "upload file " at the bottom of the forumn page if you facing issue with > 500KB attachments.

Re: the gunships, do we have any SAM infantries?

Interesting thought on playing the kingmaker ... but I think our goal is to survive till 2050? In that case, it might be prudent to hit on Cathy's supporters ... or simply raze that damned building of Cyrus ... that should stop the elections right? (don't know if it has any effect on resolutions that were already passed though)

Thanks, I was quite surprised myself. He had a bunch of destroyers holed up in a few cities - by all rights they should have come out and wasted my fleet. That wasn't smart of the AI. Also, it should have attacked me with gunships whenever I dropped the panzers next to the city instead of just letting them sit in Philadelphia.

Hehe. I remember once transfering an archive that spanned fifty floppies to my friend. The next day he came back to me, and said "right, could I get archives three, seventeen, and thirty-two again? The floppies were bad".

I spent some time looking for it last night, but it wasn't mentioned in FAQ so I gave up. Thanks for the tip - will use in the future!

No, and I don't know how useful they would be on attack, since it would be American Mech Infantries who'd defend against them.

I don't think that destroying UN actually stops the Diplo option - reading the description, it says that it simply triggers the elections.

Surviving is an easy goal - I've had someone sink one my destroyers and disappear (so I replaced it with a Battleship), and I also sunk a chinese transport with three infantries on it, but that was as close as the AIs got to attacking me this turn.

BTW, we have loads of money with nothing to spend it on, so may consider upgrading the home defenders.

Sorry guys, was hoping to play tonight ... but RL intervened ... ... the earliest I can play is saturday morning (30 hrs). So if Gotag want to take it, go ahead.

For your convenience (since I have already combined and unzipped the file), here is the save.

EDIT; Ok, I see that Gotag did not get tit ... so I'm playing now. SOrry for the delay.

General: let me see it.

mm15-ad2020-cyrus-city.jpg

General: Ha, so that cyrus think he can get off with such pathetic defenses?
Major: Most likely not sir. But we have suffered great casualities. I don't think we can attack in our present conditions.
General: I hate to say this, but I'm fraid I must agree with your assessment. Have the boys pull back to the Arabian coast and heal there.
Major: How about asking Berlin for reinforcement?
General: I tried, but they seems to have another problem. The Romans built another city in the NW island off Berlin. HQ replies that once the forces had rid us of that menance, those troops will be joining us.

On the bright side, seems like Cathy is not eager to win diplomatically.

30 turns remaining, and Roosy still needs the Engine, Cockpit, and Stasis, 2 of which are some of the hardest parts. I doubt we would see a launch. By the way, Cyrus also launched a few parts, but I think its too few too late.

The game won't come back to me, so guys, have fun!

If we had more time we could win this I think, although it would be hella tough stopping all the launches.

Sacked and burned a bunch of cities. We now have 2 task forces, once resting after burning a couple of Chinese cities and the other pretty spent after taking out some of Sally's.

I have created a third force that is ready to take out that city of Cyrus off our coast. He has jets now and is bombing our pastures and mines. We don't want to be called Meier do we???

We currently researching refrig for the boat movement. It will come to late to do much good but nothing else could either be completed in time or offered much help.

Hope that works...

Gotag

Well I took out 2 of Cy’s cities and one of Qin’s. We have a force on Cy’s main Island although it is getting hit by jet fighters. For some reason the SAM in the stack doesn’t defend. Lot’s of Panzers waiting for pickup and a contingent of our fleet is on goto for this. I went after the guys w/o mechs. Cathy and Rosy both have them and it is less fun going into mechs with panzers. I agree that we could win this if I left only the conquest option on. We really needed a start with a bit more food and we had some bad luck getting artists instead of scientists. If we would have teched a bit faster and therefore gone on the offensive a bit earlier we would have done it. We needed to paralyze the tech leaders with WW so they couldn’t get to mechs. Anything else we could handle with ease.

All in all a very respectable showing for the German people in a very hard variant. I would really like to give this another try if you are up for it but this time I would have only conquest as a win condition.

The roaring forties in Germany were signaled by the country’s panzers driving through the Persian island. Knowing their time was to come to an end, the Germans mowed everything down in their path – except the Persian capital, as that was the seat of UN, and the German ambassador there disliked the noise that panzers made.

Many a soldier sent back home a card (see attached photo one), on whose back was scrawled something like “Hi Mom! That’s me and my panzer in front of these ruins! Love, son!”.

The German scientists busied themselves with… well, archery, apparently. Also, Divine Right. No, history has no explanation for their actions – apparently they decided that everything else would be too difficult, or take too long, or they’d rather play golf.

In the year 2050 AD, the UN gathered for the final time, and decided to award the victory to Roosevelt. The German ambassador huffed und puffed, but then said “whatever” and retired to grow roses.

Overviewing the accomplishments of his country, the last Chancellor outlined the major achievements of his predecessors.

We have built but a single city but razed forty-three. Strange, I counted only forty-two, when going through our archives. I had this very amusing joke prepared about us having finally found the Most Important Question Of Them All, it being “How many cities must a man raze to consider himself a man?” Oh well, I guess some of the boys got overzealous.

Also, note our approval rate is 69% - higher than anywhere else in the world. All our citizens enjoy the benefits of living in the capital, close to the greatest libraries in the world. We have the finest university in the lands. We also have cows. Ooh, cows! Strike that last statement from the record, please.

Finally, our cultural influence is the highest in the known world. Of course, the naysayers claim the only reason for this was because we burned down the old American cities, who were the only ones in competition with us for this title. To these losers we say – Bwa-ha-ha!

We also claim credit for most of the warfare for the last 6050 years. We apologize to the Chinese civilization – what, there are no Chinese left? Because we killed them all, you say? Well, no need to apologize then!

We would also like to take some time to congratulate our pal Saladin, who ended up with a score lower than ours. You were this close to extinction but we didn’t find you in time, so you get to drink champagne at the end of the game.

Despite the mystical voice in the sky proclaiming us to be equals of some Dan Quayle guy, we know better. It was a good and fun time, and my hat goes off (careful, it’s spiky!) to my compatriots.

What will I remember? The turn when I had a chance to drive panzers up and down American heartland was a most pleasing Civ experience for me. Also, we can now say with pride that I was playing Monarch, Always War, One City Challenge - and we went into Pacifism! :crazyeye:

I don’t know if I’ll be joining mm16 – I’m not going to be around much during summer but best of luck to those who will go on (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=173551 if any lurkers are interested).

Thanks for a fun game, everyone. :goodjob:
