mm15: Berserk Bismarck- AWM-1CC

Yes I have tried this with some other civs and it is quite doable but the best start has lots of food and at least 3 hills. I find that Exp is not really a necessary trait. You don't need to be that big of a city but you do need to run lots of specialists early. I like Liz for this Philo and Fin. Fin helps with early research to grab some religion and other techs until you switch to the specialist econ. I was fighting LBs with rifles and then it's just a matter of time. Well maybe we can pull this out. I think we need to get the other civs pillaged so we can at least pass them in tech.

At the moment though it might be best to see if we can burn one more of Roseys cities before they all have infantry. We need to hit him with WW as we will not be able to pillage him.

Got it.

Bad News. Assembly Line requires Corporation.

That means that after seven turns on Steam Power we will also need Representation (6), Economics (4), Corporation (6) and eighteen turns on Steam Power!

Alternative is to go for Music (2) - Military Tradition (6), and get Cavalry.

Hooray for the theocrats! Having entered mortal combat with the rest of the world, they do not forget their responsibilities but merely plow forever onwards, leaving only the trail of dead in their wake.

So it will take us eternity and a day to research Infantry? That’s OK, we’ll stop by and pick up Cavalry first. So we can’t do anything about Americans? We’ll take on Saladin instead.

During the twenty years of my reign, we burned two of the closest Arabian cities. A lone Frigate traveled around the American continent, seeking a ***** in their armor, and finally located it in Los Angeles and Boston area, where two cities stand protected by a lone infantry and a single longbowman. These could be taken with the appropriate sacrifices of our forces.

Many civilian settlers traveling on slow and weak galleons were destroyed by the German navy. Settlers and civilians? What are those – we know not such a word.

Unfortunately, Russian frigates are at Berlin’s doors. Two of them slipped past us and destroyed one of our defenders. Still, this is but a temporary setback.

We have a task force of seven units traveling on three galleons and protected by two frigates in the former Arabian lands. We have a secondary task force recently arrived onto the northernmost tip of our island, ready to join the fray.

We have Military Tradition now – might want to build West Point at some point, I suppose.

Who’s next?

West Point may be worth it as if we get to +10XP out of the box we can promote to amphibious and do some sea based attacks on weakly defended cities.

My reign is an uneventful one. Yeah, we see a few frigates from the Russian, both sides sank some ships, with the German sinking more, of-course. What else would you expect?

Our eastern coast, however, is not protected, resulting in the lost of the remaining nets. By the way, I was puzzled by the presence of the nets on the eastern crabs rather and the absence of a nets on the eastern clams. The most logical answer would be the nest at clams was pillaged by some pirates.

To such end, I ordered us some tiny little ships made of iron rather than woods. Who would had thought a piece of iron would float as well as a piece of wood, eh? These little slow-moving irons shall protect our netting operations and stop the pillaging once and for all. Thereafter, we need one more workboat to the eastern side for the clams (not the crabs, we already have crabs on the west side).

Speaking of pillaging, we have pilages of our own. After cleaning up the saladin's island, we proceed to pillage the cyrus cities. These pillages shall keep our research running at full speed.

Of-course, I have managed to sink a few unprotected galleons loaded with Chinese and Roman, troops. And, what a good laugh I had when a American caravel appeared. Roosey still has these obslete things around? Ha! The German navy would welcome the free experience anytime.

>>> The Save (1860AD) <<<

This is not unlike trying to deflower 7 virgins with chastity belts of increasing complexity. The inactivity of the AI is mind boggling.

Rosy is sadly untouchable for the moment and so is Cat. Until we get infantry the win loss ration is just too high. They both have rails now also...

Quick report as I have to run for various Mothersday activites. Must appease the wife, mother AND mother in law.

We captured Tarsus with the loss of 2 cannons and 1 gren. The units are now moving around pillaging this island.

Built many units who are now camping China's main island. Dropped off reinforcements of 3 cav, 3 cannons. Much fun to have here although China has machine guns. Ships are in position to bombard Bejing and it's yours for the taking.

We are currently building West Point which should complete in three turns. We are researching assembly line in around another 10 odd, I would blow a great engineer to speed this up if it breaks that way but I don't think it will.

Best of luck!! We are ahead of Sally in score btw!!!! Go US!!

Well looking things over it really pains me that we have coal and iron and haven't built the ironworks but I guess we can build 1 turn units from here on out and the health trade off would not be worth 7 turns.

1884 we take Bejing for the cost of 2 cannons

1886: Sink a galleon with troops/settler of Cy's

1888: I do a landing on Cyrus. My feeling is that we should hit everyone a bit to try and induce WW and take everyone down a bit. Also very bad news as Rosy has detstroyers. This will make it impossible to stop landings at sea and naval movement dangerous.

1890: We get wiped out by Cyrus. Maybe that wasn't such a good idea. I see out main chance is inducing WW in most of the lesser civs to slow them down so they never get to infantry.

1892-98: West point was built and I pumped rifles for upgrade to infantry. Also moved our Chinese contingent to take Shanghi after healing. China was very weak on their starting continent.

1900: Take Shanghi for the loss of 1 cannon and 1 Cav. Upgrade 6 rifles to infantry. We have 3 galleons sitting around but with destroyers around I would wait to bring back the Chinese based frigates for cover. UNtil we get our own destroyers we will have to go with lots of suicide frigate cover.

I would say we need to get the infantry over to the Russians as we haven't hit them at all yet.

Summary: China is hurt bad. So is Arabia. 'merica is untouchable ATM. Cy must have a bit of WW Jules and Cathy have not been touched. It appears Cathy is the biggest threat besides Rosy

Ironworks might be worth it but it take too damn long (yes, we can built units in 1 turns, but with ironworks, we could build units in one turn while pumping out more beakers). Perhaps wait for a Great Engineer (if lady Luck smiles on us) to arrive?

AFAIK, WW will only kick in when the Civ go offensive. So our guerilla warfare may not be able bring WW to the victim civs, unless they started to bring they own retaliatory forces to our land.

I see it. Will play either tonight or tomorrow night, as my turn came up in another SG as well.

Umm... OK, embarassingly enough, the save isn't here! Please disregard my earlier "see it". I was obviously blind.

Mark, could you post the save, please? It probably didn't attach because it's over 500 Kb - I think when zipped, it's still a tiny bit under.

I couldn't find the save so I replayed with Approx the same results. 2 Chinese cities gone. Lost a few ships to an American destroyer but eventually killed it.

Aaargh!

That is, unfortunately, due to workload, I find myself unable to play tonight, tomorrow night etc. at least until Monday night. I will then be unable to play Tuesday night, Wednesday night etc. until next Monday at the earliest, and possibly Tuesday.

So, sorry for delaying the game. Please skip me until May 29th.

Things does not go well.

First, we lost our invasion forces in Persia ... :aargh:

To make matter worse, with most of our naval fleet lost, Cyrus is fre to move a sizable invasion force to Germany:

mm15-ad1920-cyrus-invasion-forces.jpg

Good luck to the next Marshall. We should be able to repel the first wave of Persian forces.

Our only hope is to get to our own desctroyer fast. But that is quite a distance away. We have 2 more turns on railroad. Then, we need combustion, and then scientific methods (which will obsolete TGL) to reveal oil. Hopefully our oil is on land instead of on sea. Else we need plastics to built off-shore platform, and with pillaging destroyers around, its impossible tp get work boat out.

>>> The Save (1920AD) <<<

This will be tough. If we can;t get our troops out we may have to turtle until we get destroyers. We can cover all of our good tiles with infantry and control where the landings occur. I wish I knew more about WW. If we let the AI attack in our territory will that increase it or is it better to offensively destroy them?

gotag up

Had a peek and we may have little choice about turtling.

We may have issues though if the Oil is sea based off our east coast. It would take a hell of a long time to get a work boat there and we couldn't even defend it with clads.

Gotag

It's not. If it was we would be done.

We have no oil. There is one in the Arctic south of us but we need two(!!) borders pops before it is available.

I went Sci-Meth after rail so at least I could plan how to do the oil but sadly none for us. I then went Sci-Meth->Physics. Maybe we have uranium? If so we can at least build destroyers and transports.

As if that wasen't enough, in 1927 Rosy launched Apollo. We will be facing tanks and battleships soon I suspect.

However without oil we have no panzers. Nor for that matter modern armor (hell we also need aluminum for those) I doubt we can tech to Mobile Infantry before time runs out.

We can defeat any reasonable invasion attempt but we cannot project without a navy. I started building suicide frigates and we can probably invade somebody with cannon and infantry but we will be facing tanks/artillery which is pretty grim.

Best of luck.
