Yes, Economy is horrible indeed ... which is why I am razing cities to continue funding our 100% research. But with a few city growths and cottages maturing, it should improve.
0 700 BC Move the threatened warrior to a foresthill. Delete two warriors to drop unitcost. whip library in Teotihucan (smaller city's means less maintanance cost!). Assign extra scientists.
My strategy: research literature as quickly as possible, without destroying enemy city's but funding our research by destroying their cottages, farms etc., to build the GL with our GE.

Great Artist born somewhere (music discovered?). Research rate is between 40 and 50% without extra funding by our armouredtanks, so in fact higher, in my turns ~80%.
On my first turn Monty culturebombed Tlatelolco, stealing the horses from our southernmost city, so I razed it, stealing 3 workers. Razed a barb city for the cash and killed 6 roman troops in Cumae - but left the city standing.
On my first turn the Hanging Gardens were BIDL so I couldn't start them. I started a settler instead because there are a couple of spots close to the capital that will make nice low-mainenence cities and there's not much chance of our opponents settling there for us. Chichen Itza was BIDL too.
Whipped a lighthouse in KS and it started a barracks but in low production, high commerce mode. Whipped a library in Assyrian and started the National Epic there. We got a GS on my 9th turn and I didn't use him. Asperger mentioned lighbulbing philosophy but I think an academy in Timbuktu would be better.
On my last turn CoL finished. I selected Metal Casting for the forges to increase our happy limits and production, but no beakers are invested.
Once the settler in Timbuktu is finished it should be reconfigured to work cottages and any spare citizens to become scientists. Let's not work mines here for a while. A monastery is a good cheap research-increaser here. We perhaps have too many workers - they are costing us maintence.

As long as we aren't attacked by the other continent we can afford a small army so pacifism will be real great for us. Plus we can build Angkor Watt in capital (stone wonder!) for chance to get great prophet for shrine! Angkor Watt also means extra hammer for prophet specialist.

As usual, you are correct - did not realise Taoism is still available. I thought I learnt the lesson of "When you disagree with Asperger you are wrong" in another SG we played together, but it appears I have forgotten .
University of Sangkore (another stone wonder) looks good in this game. Never built it before, but apparently it is in Mali so is rather suitable. AI tends to delay paper too.
Great turns, Asperger and soooo, good job getting the Great Library, and razing that annoying Monty city! However, I don't understand the rationale behind building a settler .... with the deities showering us with gifts of their divine cities ... why are we wasting time building settlers????

All that is required is a shrine now. I have also switched capital from settler to Angkor Wat.
The same turn we founded Taoism, some dude in a faraway land founded chirstainity.
One worker is found chopping a forest which I stopped, as the city has only 2 forests in the BFC (there is another which I allow to continue, since there are 3 forests in the BFc). The worker is instead sent to chop forest outside any city's BFC which will hasten Angkor Wat.
I decided to raze Cumae, continue the 100% research. I see no point in not razing them ... these diety will rebuild a city at the exact same spot decades later. This will also temporarily suspend Roman's praetorian production.
With the pillage money, we got Metal Casting, and I started a mint somewhere.
Research is next set to CS ... the bureaucratic bonus and the chain irrigation is quite needed.
One razed city is obviously not enough, so I razed a barb city as well.
And before I end my turnset, seeing that soooo had wanted to settle, I decided to capture Neapolis and augment it into our empire.
The sleeping bud missionary is hurried there, a skimisher is hurried there, and workers are also streaming towards there to rebuild the improvements which had been pillaged by the MA.
Speaking of workers, we have too many of them. As such, I deleted quite a few (4 I think). They are almost running out of things to do.
I had also suspended the NE building to add a temple there, this allowed us to continue growing the GP farm. Once happiness limit is reached, suggest adding Priests. Angkor Wat should be completed just abt the same time to add 1 extra hammer per priest. This makes priest the most attractive specialist, with 2 hammer, 1 gold and 3 beakers. Plus it is foreseeable our empire will sooner or later span our entire continent, so a shrine would be quite attractive.
As an ending note, some dude produced a list of powerful civs.
He must either be crazy, or is holding his calculator upside down, or has yet to seen our little friends, or is funded by the AIs to do his research (pretty much the same way Microsoft funds some "independent" research on TOC of Linux vs Windows).
