Well it's time I move away momentarily from the heavyweights to present a couple awesome welterweight and lightweight guys!
First, the capoiera talk made me think of this guy. Easily the most strange fighter in the business. He is unbelievably theatrical, always coming up with a crazy new entrance theme (like coming out with a jetpack-like thing on and a Kentucky Fried Chicken bucket on his head). He is the only fighter I've ever seen to use an entertaining rhythmic movement in his fighting. Don't mistake his strange style for inneffectiveness though, as he's one of the deadliest submission wrestlers on the planet:
Genki Sudo highlight.
Here we have a short clip of
Genki Sudo versus Butterbean. It is very short but very funny. He basically just jumps on Butterbean, letting the fat man fall with him, then the rest is history
You guys may be wondering who is the most naturally talented fighter in the business? My vote is for
BJ Penn. The scope of this guy's talent is unbelievable. He is the first non-Brazilian to win the world BJJ championships, and after only doing the sport for four years. That is absolutely insane. It is UNHEARD OF for a brazilian jiu-jitsu practitioner to get a black belt in as little as four years, and he became WORLD CHAMP in that amount of time. He recently lost a decision to Georges St. Pierre, but if the UFC would get their heads out of their arses, they would have made the fight 5 rounds instead of 3, and BJ Penn would DEFINITELY of won if it had gone 5 rounds. I fully expect to see him as welterweight champion within a year. It will go like this:
Matt Hughes vs. Royce Gracie (Matt Hughes wins and retains his title)
Georges St Pierre vs. Matt Hughes (GSP wins and becomes champ)
BJ Penn vs. some throwaway contestant for a title shot (BJ wins)
BJ Penn vs. Georges St. Pierre (BJ Penn wins and becomes champ)
