[MOD] Age of Discovery II

Thanks Dale ; that explains it.

The only folder that made it across from the zip to the mods folder was the Assets folder (plus the ini). I have just again tried extracting from my two downloads of the mod and each time there was a small error message. I guess the error message must have appeared last night ,but I didn't notice it. The unzipping actually stopped before it finished the Assets folder each time I tried it.

So, I have now extracted the folders individually and all seems to be working as I expected.

Thanks again

I have all those files listed in the AOD 1.06 folder. Does that information need to be in specific place?
Do I need to delete AOD 1.05.

Hi, I'm playing a game of 1.06 and it consistently crashes at the turn after my save. Is it possible to post the save game somewhere debug purposes?

Deleting 1.05 didn't help. I looked through the folder and opened the files. All the stuff that is suppose to be there seems to be there. The Pirate ships and the new leaders are there but it won't show up when I open the Mod. I will look at Dales download instructions again and start over.

Does all the new stuff show in the Pedia? Oh, and is the Pedia called CIVOpedia or COLONOpedia?

Great mod overall. I only get pink screens for the achievements, and the scenarios like Columbus' Dream don't show up, but I can still play them thru my documents folder, so it isn't a big deal.

I love the new Europe and Pirate screens. But I would really love to be able to customize the European screens for each of the European nations. The Tyn Church from Prague could kind of work for Amsterdam, but seems really out of place for London, Seville or Lisbon. I haven't been able to figure out where the XML language is that links each civilization to its Europe screen. Once I know that, I can probably do the artwork myself.

Thanks RavenKing. :)

The link is in python (not XML). The file is CvEuropeScreen.py

You can open this in notepad if you don't have the python IDE. :)

Thanks, Dale. I will see what I can figure out.

I got it running. I got rid of everything I had done and started over. Added the Mod folder. Downloaded the game and unzipped it to the Mod file and everything ran correctly.

Awesome great to hear butler. :)

Hope to hear some game reports from you soon.

I played a nice game with your mod yesterday . The most improvements are very good. I'm almost happy about the ki but there are a few problems left over. I think its difficult to improve the KI. Later in the game Spain declared war on me and they really had a strong army + navy. On the otherside the Netherlands did not at all. I've uploaded a pic where you can see Peter Stuyvesant doing nothing. He stayed there until the indian gave up their village. It's up to the worldsize. I choose a small map, because i don't like large ones.

Hi Dale -

I'm a newbee on this forum, but am pretty experienced with CIVCOL; was a super-expert on Colonization I (about 10 years ago?) I've played a couple of dozen games with the new Colonization (vanilla) and managed to get a few independence victories at the Revolutionary level; best score about 8000.:D :goodjob:

I downloaded your Age of Discovery 1.06 mod a couple of days ago, and have played two games. The first game (Faireweather - Governor level) I won an economic victory in about 1730 (about 4200 points). Today I tried a random New World map and built up to declare independence in about 1618 -- would have had it wired except everytime I hit the "Revolution" button I got a CTD (tried it 3 times).

Any advice or quick fixes??

Did you use any sounds from Sid Meier's pirates!?

Im having a small grapics glitch with the mod, the pirates "soldiers" have what looks like a spear-like object lingering about in their model... is this normal?

Yes. It's normal. I get this too.

yeah thats the famous "Floaty pirate spear", as used by Blackbeard and many others in the Caribbean in the 1700's :p

Its awaiting somebody who can fix the graphic glitch IIRC!

That graphic glitch has been fixed, by a nice gentleman from the German forums. :)

Cool, so it can be expected to be in the next release? :)
