[MOD] Fall from Heaven

Yes, I decided that this mod will do a lot better than mine (unless anybody wants to click the link in my signature), and anyway, it is great.

The thing with having some work more effeciently, i think that this is what i have been trying to say, but the "effeciencies," in my oppinion, should be different from civ to religion to religion (as in a group work well with Veil, but also each has a different one too...)

Note: In case most people havent noticed, i use a lot of "Note:" and "()" and "..." ...

So, no chance of being able to have a militia type unit that can be changed by swapping weapons or getting weapons made by weaponsmiths? I feel hurt... *sniffels loudly* Oh well...

Note: Experienced civ 4 modders who have both nothing to do and a yearning to do something great. Check the link in my signature.

You are certainly always welcome here. And don't give give up hope on the equipment, none of this is finalized yet.

Chalid just sent me the updated Order buildings, they look awesome. I attached a city screen for the order in the 4th post of this thread.

All of the different cities look AMAZING. Great job Chalid:goodjob: !

Kael, how will the cities work when there are multiple religions within the same one?

ATM the cities are just the state religion. Unfortunately.

The city graphics aren't based on cities religion but on the state religion. So when you switch to the Veil, your entire country turns dark and evil. Well... right now your cities just turn into what you saw. More work needs to take place to turn your whole country evil.

At first it seems weird, you could very well have a city in your state religion veil empire that only has the Order in it, and it will still be using the Veil art. But I think its a good thing. Means that when you look at your neighbors you don't see a mix of different city types. You see one common design. You Overlord nieghbor with his glowing spires, the elves neighbor with his green fields and tatched huts. I think it makes it more consistent.

Kael, I am excited to see that FfH reaches v0.9 today :)

What are your plans for the future?
Is there more important element, concept, gameplay issue you want to put in?
Are you waiting for the SDK to use it?
(Sorry, I haven't read all this thread...)

When do you think there wil be a version which might be taken as FINAL,
in terms of game concept?

I guess, when FfH will reach a true 1.0 version (that is, being complete),
the from that point on it is tuning, balancing and grapchical decorating that will come...

:goodjob:

I might point you to post #12 of this thread.

Kael stated that Version 1.0 shall be completed and released something like 2 weeks in the future. Thereafter (and with the help of the SDK) work will be done on phase 2.

3. Light, Heavy, Berzerker, Stalwart
These traits are almost a way of having two unit types. I notice we already have stalwart and berserker, but light and heavy be add some spice. Also, what if every unit had a promotion based on the religion in the city that built. They would be, light and dark. They would get minimal bonuses/weaknesses when fighting in terrain squares of those alignments. Also, if you switched to a religion on the other side of the spectrum, they would get large penalties. The fellowship would not have this problem/advantage.

Offense and Defense promotions are already in, but not in varying strengths like Zuul has done. The light and heavy is a brillant idea, but it just strikes me as more of a tech heavy flavor sort of promotion, not a fantasy one.

Why not?
Heavy and light chivalry would be very nice.
You could make a promotion something like that:
heavy armor:-1 movement, +30% combat, +30% vs. archers
light armor: +2 movement -15% combat, +10% withdraw

other ideas for promotions:
for chivalry:
charge I: +30% combat on grass& plains
charge II: +40% combat on grass& plains
charge III: +50% combat on grass& plains

oh by the way you should consider to increase the bonus a fort gives
+25% is not much when you can plant a forest that gives +50%
and then put units with woodsman promotions in

Well maybe then the elves should stick in their forest. Eh?

I'm hoping that a lot of the tuning and such is all done for 1.0. I think you will be impressed with the amount of polish that has been added into 0.90. 1.0 will be a final version for everything it was designed to do, and at that point FfH will be in maintenance mode. It is scheduled for release on February 10th.

Then I start on Phase 2. Typically these are features that required the SDK. New Civ's, Equipment, Quests, Travel to a different plane, etc etc. Its going to take time before a Phase 2 canidate is released, so expect version 1.0 to be "the version" for quite a while.

ive been a long time reader and user of your mod. Genius is all i can say, I cant remember the last time i used vanilla civ. Congrats and thanks. When are we gonna see v0.9, I'm impatient, after all its 14.20 here in central europe and fridays over halfway thru ty again for all your work

Running through everything right now. It will probably be posted within the next 3 hours, its still early in Ohioland.

Sure they should stay in their forests. But with forts only 25% a forest is better for EVERYONE and not just for elves...
And I cant imagine dwarfes prefering forests over a good solid stonekeep.

Oh btw, I just wanted to point out before 0.9 release that it doesn't say what the armageddon spells do anywhere...

Good point, adding those now.

Will there be a commander specialist for cities? Could add like +5% military production, 1 hammer and of course the +3 GP points per turn... 66 megs...

Fall from Heaven
Version 0.9

Download here: (currently uploading) (66 Meg)

WOOT, can't wait to start downloading :goodjob:

On a sidenote: I just thought of Haarbal's civs.
I guess they will be not compatible as things will have changed that he needs to change in his civ-pack too. Did he ever ask wether he could get your betas (which woodelf tests) so he could start working on the new version and release as soon as the new version of FfH is out and about?
Would be very nice that way.

Guess I am just a bit impatient;) :mischief:

Haarbal had access to the 0.90 on Wednesday. That said Im sure he has other things going on and he may not schedule his life around FfH release dates (as unfortunate as I think that is).
