[MOD] MaxRigaMod - video+1901-1941-1961-2001 scenar.

    okay well into my first game and can now give you my verdict (for those who care) I have to say on the whole very good, great units, nicely balanced countries, game plays at a decent speed (i have reached 1972 and still no slow down, although the in city screens are very slow for some reason) very good. My ownly comments are of a minor nature really.

    1) First up, i hate the entire barbarian states thing, ai players just destroy them and then u have huge gaps on the map. Maybe its just me but i hatemaps with incomplete unclaimed areas. I ended up going into editor and turning these barbarain states into small cities in the end.

    2) Dont like the way every player can build any unit they like if they get the technology. It just does not seem right having mig 3's in Paris. Why not take a page out the normal non moded game and designate certain units to one civilization.

    3) Few minor niggles that are me i think really rather than the vast majority of players, for example i see no point in having nukes if sdi and bomb shelters are so effective. Given that this scenario is based on the cold war where the threat of nuclear war was very real, i would suggest toning down sdi to 25% and bomb shelters to 20% so that nuclear exchanges will be as scary as they should be. Lastly global warming can u turn this sucker off? its sooo annoying.... Except i dont know how to on this mod as there is no global defined folder.


    To sum up, damn good mod, i have been playing as the USSR (always my favorite) and i am enjoying building the Rodina up immensly. I like the way also that settlers and workers are very expensive thus avoiding to much devolopemnt too soon and consquental slow down that follws it. All in all a job well done Max nice one mate

    i'm really glad u r enjoying ur playing :)
    if u trade map with any civ u will see barbarians cities instead of gaps. The reasons i made this barbarians cities is to let players rush for world influence at the beginning. Let's say, who will be first to get Venezuela with additional oil resource etc. this is especially interesting in multiplayer games, when everybody rushes for the world domination influence ;)

    this was most hardest part of my decisions about the mod. i didn't know, should i make all this units as special for countries or make then as tech. so, i've decided to mix it. for example, the whole army of India and China is based on Russian technologies ( planes, ships and tanks ). So, it's more realistic if you can trade tech, not units, to your allies, isn't it? ;)

    i haven't been making any changing in buildings settings yet. but i will and i pay attention on ur comment when the time will come ;)

    i like to play ussr too, but i've played by every country in this mod and i had fun playing by UK too.

    thats a good point when one considers the amount of Soviet/Russian military hardware supplied to the third world etc, fair comment i guess when u look at it like that it makes sense :)

    Thanks for a great mod, it was worth the wait and hassle i intially had to get it to work. :D

    i think u have missed out the sub based nukes, i have invented them but only the old icbm is on the menu,can you confirm what the deal is with that please Max? am i missing something? and when u did invent the nukes how do u load them onto the sub?

    I just discovered that the Kennedy Ai is a bit mental , i gave them a few nukes to just even things up a bit and they just go nuts on every occasion and nukes other players for no reason, is there a way to limit his psyhcoitc tendecies?

    you have to build nuke for subs unit in cities next to the coast ( like Leningrad in USSR or NewYork in USA ). Then you bring your sub ( which one can carry balistical missilis ) into this city and load it on :)

    unfortunately, nuke for sub unit has the same nuke range as icbm ( covers whole world ) so, it's actually just for fun, but i hope i will fix it in future ;)

    When do u get the sub nukes? what do u need to research as i stil dont have have the despite having regular icbms. They are more than for fun it means the enemy cant destroy your icbms in a first strike and escape relatiation, due to sub launched missiles, all good fun.

    I downloaded the 1961 scenario and i´m having a small problem here: I Cant chose any civilization other than the USA, UK or USSR.

    I want to play as Brazil.

    I already checked the file and all civs are with PlayableCiv=1

    Why cant i choose the other nations then?

    one more problem with 1.61 i guess, because brazil is playable country and you should easily chose one of 13 countries to play :( any1 had the same problem?

    Most likely because in the WorldBuilderSave file itself there are restrictions placed on which civilizations are playable and which ones aren't. Open up the map file in notepad and check the first civilizations entries, then tell us what's the difference between those for USSR and UK and then the rest, such as Brazil.

    Ok, here are some files.I've added leaderheads to the civs. It was a long process in chosing over many pics,some leaders were camera shy..esp. Hirohito.meaning they don't look into the camera....I found Stalin not to be,surprisingly.Learned alot about history also. Anyways I tried to add the best pic available,quality,eye contact & black or white pics,few are. There was one leader of S. Africa that you won't find a pic for & it was'nt Mandela.

    Out of all the leaders I believe the best leaderhead is of Stalin,check it out.MaxRiga,I see you added alot of leaders that are'nt in any of your scenarios yet.Some of those I did'nt add a pic...some I did. I'll keep working on it.

    One thing about the 1961 scenario,to get a pic to show up for Y.Nakasone I had to edit it. That is why his pic shows up in the leaders under Hirohito.You connected them together for the scenario I believe....

    If anyones wandering why F.I.Abdalaziz picture has King Fahd's text....it's not my fault.:lol: I just added the correct leader for the 1961 scenario,I'm still trying to find out who LEADER_MUHADI is in the civ4artdefines....Max help me out here.:crazyeye:

    Keep up the good work & hopefully you'll use those unused leaders in another scenario....

    eee .. thnak you very much ... but i do not plan change my pictures of "leaders" (( i mean, i want to keep cities pictures with national flags as main "leader" picture for its country !

    but thank you very much about trying to improve my scenario. if you want, you can put it all in one file and post it there as addon for my mod and i make link on front page for it ;)

    p.s. LEADER_MUHADI was arabian leader for 1961, lol
    just called him like this, lol

    Well done Max, u have created a great scenario.
    But i think that you should fix the city names, so they either represent regions/states or cities, not both. Also the introducement of some newly-functioned units, causes severe lag and fonts sometimes disapears, especially the automobile troop-transport causes trouble.

    Finally i disagree about the cost of workers and settlers, i see what your point is and it makes sense, but the "Tiger economies" of Asia,(Japan, China and India) should have cheaper and more effective workers, this would add an aspect to the game where the rise of an southern eastern superpower is possible.

    I played as china and the game started with the usual defensive pacts, but as soon as NATO declared war on Argentina, the western defensive pact was broken. I payed USSR, Egypt and Arabia to attack Britain and Nato, while i overtook all of Japan, the britsh colonies in east-asia and finally took India.
    USA never engaged in a war with us and did nothing to prevent the socialistic ekspansion. Therefore USSR won a spacerace victory in 1975.

    Maybe u should make the diplomatic ties between the west even closer.

    Anyway im am a big fan of your map so far.

    No problem,that's just a personal preference of mine....I like pics of individual leaders. Tell me what units you want to be upgradable to what & I'll fix it. Like say the F16 upgradable to F35. Or the Migs...

    Ok,I'll get you all in one link for an add-on.

    Another question is Gamal Abdel Nasser supposed to be the leader in both scenarios? In one its nasser & the other anasser....

    Max you can fix the city Lost Angeles yourself in both scenarios just edit it in notepad.
