[mod-mod] Civilization Wonders

Valkrionn- awesome, found it. Much quicker than manually entering each one into buildingclass infos. Testing in a bit.

Huzzah and success! No, just looking for the stuff updated on the original post.

I kinda like the idea. Hero units for every civ is nice, but without a building counterpart it just further pushes the game to emphasize the war aspects and overshadow all thoughts of peace game mechanics.

I like it a lot. And you have a good rationale, so I'm repeating it. :)

For the Scions I suggest a trade/Merchant or culture/Bard focused building, or some combination. Anything Trade related might be too similar to the Dark Council, though.

A cultural building could represent a collection of great works and/or artists from the Age of Magic, or just the Scions self-declaring their own awesomeness.

Tarquelne- Culture could be a good fit. I haven't been running FF in a while now, so my knowledge of the Scions is about 3 versions old and I never looked into the XML.

Which would fit better for them? A one time bonus of Reborn, or some sort of global bonus?

Alpha is live! Thanks for all your help, guys. Couldn't have done it without you. Still need a lot of modding help, but want to keep that separate from the release thread.

Goodies

hey Hades, instead of having Ritual of Desecration allow scourge to all unit built in city (demon altar already does this) .. have it grant all cities a demon altar! :)

Sidar wonder would be Library of the Mists (or Temple/Tomb of the Everlasting Shade)

requires Life-mana/Death-mana/Spirit Mana/ reagents/ incense

Requires elder council and Library

Tech ... tricky. Maybe Writing, Poisons, and Philosophy?

Wonder would grant all units built in city stealth and fade away promos. With 10% chance of immortality promo, and 20% chance of Undead Slaying Promo. and 5% chance of gaining Life II.
(if promos could be linked to unit-types, Divine and Arcane would get Life II, Melee and Mounted would gain Undead Slaying, and all others would have stealth, fade away, and 50% chance of immortality) as well as +1 science to all eldercouncils, Libraries, and Academies (OR +1 science for each sage and great sage)

Fade Away would grant +50% withdrawal, and immune to capture.

Building itself would add +5 healthy/+5 happy, as well as +x food? to represent the increased number of people following the ways of immortality, reaching a form of nirvana almost ... only an extremely OCD version of it XD. Im thinking anywhere from +2 food to +6 food, looking at the +x value. Perhaps the building could also increase GPP production by 20%. and lower military production by 20%? however increasing production +5% for each source of spirit mana and enchant mana.

Spoiler :
(outside of MP modmod, and Tweakmod, the Sidar are quite bland. Ergo I figure their strength could lie in their wonder ^_^) initially I had a simple idea for their wonder, until you sported me with the theme of everlasting life. Normally I think of them normally as the sneaky, mostly invisible race, if non-interfering. For awhile I thought it could gain immortality + held, to represent their long life although unwillingness to change roles. Most things dealing with long life could enhance the specialists even further. I would look mostly to Bards and Sages, as they seem to be the career type to benefit most from a long life of knowledge absorption, if not experience XD. The Life/Death mana plus the addition of the immortality promo was a response to eternal life, as well, in part, the fade-away promo, as well as the GPP and science tweaks. The simplest version of this wonder would be to grant stealth to all units built in the city, as well as +1 science/culture to elder councils and libraries. An additional thought to consider, if ye wish to tweak the wonder, is to grant it a Nox Noctis effect, in order to take away some of the numerous bonuses listed.

Tarquelne- Culture could be a good fit. I haven't been running FF in a while now, so my knowledge of the Scions is about 3 versions old and I never looked into the XML.

I'd say something other than Reborn.

1) They've already got a building that that gives a few Reborn.

2) I think anything that just gives Reborn makes things too easy.

3) Speaking of "just gives Reborn makes things too easy", my latest WS idea has Reborn appearing somewhere outside Scion territory. So a building giving even more Reborn would be less unique.

Tasunke - Right now scourge is a placeholder. The original plan, and hopeful outcome, is for the Infernal Wonder to grant 10 manes upon completion, and the Mercurians to grant 10 Angels. However, until I find the code to spawn units upon completing a wonder, I've stuck them in. That being said, a free Demon's Altar will go into the next version if I can't find said code.

I like Library of the Mists. For balance reasons:
-Tech: Sorcery
-Buildings: Library, Elder Council
Resources: Life Mana, Death Mana, Reagents
GPP: Great Scientist

The Library of the Mists holds the publicly available knowledge of the Sidar. Of course, publicly only applies to Sidar...and only to those likely to Wane one day. And who are wealthy enough to afford the yearly library membership fee. Containing tips and tricks for survival, it grants a universal +3 Healthy bonus. Libraries generate +1 gold. No Orcs allowed.

Reasoning: While I really like the % promotion options, that would require additional python coding as far as I know. Not gonna happen until I'm way more comfortable with altering it. Immortality would be fairly overpowered and would render Blood of the Phoenix far less useful. The bonus is flexible. My reasoning is such: Fairly easy to get Happy in any given game. Harder to get Healthy, and one of the bigger caps on city growth. A universal bonus enables multiple cities to grow rather than just the one.

Tarquelne- roger. I'll continue to think of something that fits the flavor.

hmm, in that case what about simply adding a fade away promo granted to all units(built in city)? (+50% withdraw, immune to capture.)

+50% withdrawal would make certain units able to hit 100% withdrawal. Balance. Might give another 10% down the line.

Immune to Capture: duplicates existing spell Loyalty. In addition, is there any lore pieces to support this for non-Faded units?

Yea, the average Sidar higher citizen often finds himself hard to be seen, even if he wants to be seen. Additionally, he has very little control over this invisibility.

You are right that "immune to capture" is a copy of loyalty, what the lore says is that they are very hard to be found, and very hard to kill, .... slipping away almost contantly, into the shadows or the mists.

I'd like a low withdraw rate with immune to capture. You'll still need loyalty if you want to do any Crazed-spawning tricks or the like.

Nice ideas. FF and FFH do not have enough good wonders compared to Vanilla Civ and those look quite good. Makes me wish some of the existing wonders were pimped too. Especially Temple of Temporance. This one is so bad and boring for its position in the tech tree.

Shrine of Sirona is pretty weak too. would be nice if it allowed one heal per source of spirit mana you have, giving a good reason to stockpile it. Aquae Sucellus should also remove plagued and withered.

As should the Pool of Tears remove those conditions.
Sidenote: Can we get the Scions immune to the Poison promotion yet?

+50% withdrawal would make certain units able to hit 100% withdrawal. Balance. Might give another 10% down the line.
You can hit 100% now... however it stops at 90%.

I think we need a promo that reduces opponets withdraw chances. If I have a 110% with draw chance (caped at 90%) and you have a -30% enemy withdraw chance then I would only have a 80% chance to with draw.

Would make with draw chances >90% worth while.

Alright, Sidar promotion is coded! Granting +10% withdrawal and Immune to Capture to units built in that city, ala IceCiros suggestion.

*whew* I'm having a hard time keeping up with the civilopedia entries for all of this! Talk about a snowball effect. Glad I started on this rather than the Raven Guard as I need all the practice I can get.

As should the Pool of Tears remove those conditions.
Sidenote: Can we get the Scions immune to the Poison promotion yet?

Hello! "Poisoned" has no "PrereqAlive" I see. Odd...

New FF changes policy by Ice: Put requests in random threads they don't belong in, the team finds them better in there :D

And because I'm a horrid nitpick - Iceciro is one word. Eyes-Sa-Ciro.

I love this concept and would like to keep as many of the wonders NOT focused on handing out random combat promos. We need more overall civ wonders - would love something that did what, say, the Statue of Liberty does for vanilla civ.
And FFS, more things that give Great Engineer points. You know, Hades, you could go pretty far with a module like this... something that makes Fall have as much non-combat related buildings for civ expansion as combat buildings. The multiple tiers of religious buildings in standard civ, as a point. The fact that there's an entire set of science-increasing buildings... each more expensive to create than the last.

Fall has a few buildings you wouldn't go without, like the Elder Council then the Alchemy Lab, but... need moar.
