[mod] TOTAL REALISM 2.0

Oh and great job Pisces, I tried your map, conquered Rome with a handful of WARRIORS! :goodjob: sweeeeeet.....

Were you set to Monarch and did you keep the city afterwards or just burn it down? I'm interested to know how you could afford the city so early.

Duh, somehow I did something that keeps the map from scrolling when I move the mouse to the edge of the map. :confused: My feeble mind does not remember what I have to do to fix this, some one please tell me.

Thanks

To summerize:
- To have installed the Patch 2.0.1
AND
- You have installed the zip file in my post before

and Now the White FLag problem is resolved?

Thanks
Houman
Yep, the white flag issue has been resolved and the mod plays without any major glitches. Thanks to all who are making this such a great mod!:dance: :beer: :clap:

Is anyone listening to me, even? I'm saying the art on my goddamn flags is gone! They are just plain colors now, like black, gold, or white.

Hi,

I LOVE this mod. But I'm a bit confused on one point, when playing.

When I capture a city. A message pops up saying: You have aquired XXX technology from XXX.

But I never get the technology, am I missing something? And sorry for if this was anwsered before, but I just couldn't find it when searching for it or in the changelog.

Thanks for a GREAT Mod!!

no, popup is saying: You have acquired SOME of XXX technology from YYY.
yu can check then in tech tree, that you acquired some :science: for this technology

@Sovietof17:
you have installed white flag patch component, right? and have you also installed xml file posted by houman?

Yes and yes. When I get home I will screenshot what my flags look like. They have no decals.

hmm, you wroted before : They are just plain colors now, like black, gold, or white.
so before aplying this patch, how this flag was look like?

@Zardon
It's not a flat out technology steal. Every tech you research has a certain amount of beakers needed to "discover" it. So let's say fishing requires 200 beakers. By taking the barbarian city you gained 100 beakers towards fishing. You still need to research the remaining 100. If you already have done so or if you took a second city giving you some fishing beakers, you'll gain that tech. If not you have to finish the work yourself but it would only take half as long in that example.

@Soviet
If your flags were fine before, why did you apply the flag patch?

Thanks for the reply mexico. If its a bug that you guys are working on all is well.

@Los Tirano - yeah it is a bug but it only effects cities that are size 2 or 3. If they are size 1 then they are auto-razed and if over 3 then it starts with the delayed raze where it destroys some buildings and it loses some population each turn till it is gone. Can you imagine razing a city the size of Chicago in one turn? Neither could we that is why we had this mod component made for us as it makes it much more Realistic. The bug came about as the original raze city mod had the auto raze set at 3 which we felt was a little too harsh so we adjusted back to 1 and then found this little issue. Until we get it fixed there is always the worldbuilder but just use one eye though and no looking around. :)

@Zardon

Do you always click on OK before reading what is in there? Shall I send you a link to a website that asks you for Creditcard details and you just click on OK? ;)

It doesn't say you have acquired the technology. The funny part is that I have changed the particular word in capital letters and people still dont read it. :D

Now together it says: "From the inhabitants of XXX, you learn SOME of the secrets of XX" So, where does it say you have acquired a technology? :D

@Sovietof17 why do you install the White_Flag_Patch, if your Flags were not white before? Do you think the more Patches you install the better game will become? :D Unless this is your first time playing this Mod and you didn't know. In this case you are forgiven and we shall see to add more details about this for people to read. But to be honest as I know you guys very well, you would only click on OK button anyway before reading what is in there. So why should we bother to put some more text in the installation routine? :lol:

Kind regards
Houmie

Have been playing TR for 2-3 weeks and faithfully read every post on this board. Love the mod, love the patch. Everything works great for me so far (very short turn-times), and my machine is nothing special.

As for the future of TR, I'd love to see some serious diplomacy tweaks, allowing those (very very few) of us who prefer to avoid war to influence world events, i.e. multilateral trade embargoes, unlimited bully-demands (if a resource or civic is colored red on diplomacy screen, I cannot even demand it from weak little Rome to prevent war and let them survive), permanant border agreement (the cultural border-line between Nation X and Nation Y will no longer move), UN ability to declare multilateral war, etc.

I'd love to hear some other ideas (or other mods out there) about expanded diplomatic options.

Again, fantastic mod, and thanks for all the hard work!

You're not listening.

My flags were fine before the upgrade to this latest version.

I did not apply the white flag patch after upgrading.

I got into the game, started playing, noticed all flags were either black or white.

I applied the patch and now the flags are black, white, gold, etc.

Before I upgraded the version of my Total Realism, the flags had decals [art on them].

After I upgraded [and did not apply the patch, as I said earilier], the flags lost their decals.

So in summary, I followed this exact procedure
1. Installed Total Realism
2. Played the game which had decals on flags.
3. Downloaded the new version upgrade on Sunday.
4. Applied the new version upgrade, MAKING CAREFULLY SURE THE WHITE FLAG OPTION WAS NOT CHECKED, AS I WAS NOT HAVING THE PROBLEM
5. Played the new version, noticed the decals were gone.
6. Came back here, saw others with the same prob, downloaded the XML hack, applied it, applied the patch.
7. Tried the game again
8. End result: flags still have no decals, all patches and hacks applied.

Is that clear enough for you all now?

Does anybody else have issues with religion? More specifically, with the holy shrine? The Zoroastrian holy shrine, to be exact. Let me explain:

When I played my last game with version 2.0 I took the plunge to emperor level. I went more or less straight for Zoroastrianism. I managed to place my second city so that it blocked off the peninsula where my capital was. That left me room for 3 other cities without worrying about the AI grabbing the spots. Nevertheless my economy was REALLY strained... I had no rivers, so very little commerce. I was down to 35-40% science, I didn't even have agriculture much less animal husbandry... I had to emergency-switch to fishing, so I could get some commerce from coastal tiles and lakes. Took forever to get techs, of course. The evil german declared war and sent a lot of archers against my poor warriors. It was a tough time, hanging by a thread for a while. But I got Zoroastrianism. And meanwhile I had built Stonehenge, and it gave me the profet needed to build the shrine. And then my economical problems were over. Zoroastrianism spread, everybody - I mean EVERYBODY - converted. The money from the shrine were huge. Cottages were almost a minor part of my economy. The culture from the shrine was huge too... soon I could found a new city on the edge of the border, and soon after another city flipped to me. In my previous game my holy city achieved legendary status before 1900, and was producing over 650 culture per turn.

I've done this combination (Stonehenge+Zoroastrianism founded by second city) 3 times now, once on monarch and twice on emperor, last time with version 2.0.1. It seems quite reliable.

It just feels too good to be true. I feel like I'm exploiting a loophole here :p The money from the shrine enables me to expand early to maybe twice the number of cities I could otherwise afford. The culture means the neighbouring cities will either be near enough to flip to me, or far enough to allow me to found new cities at my leisure in the space behind the cultural avalanche ;)

I think it could use a little balancing. Maybe a cap on money and culture from the shrine, or a non-linear function of the number of cities. Or maybe the real problem is that there were too few other religions, and too many civs adopted mine and helped spread it. I am not sure... it just seems that the shrine is much too significant. I would never consider playing another game without going for a religion. And I think founding a religion should be an option - not a must.

Anyway, I would love to hear if anybody else have similar - or opposite - experiences.

Man, I hope that not one member of this team will respond to your ridiculous posts. They created this mod for your benefit, not your *****ing sessions.

First I´d like to thank you who made this Mod for a fantastic job.

Just a couple of questions, in the total world map: is the tech trading disabled? and my second question: what is that inquisitor unit good for, what can you do with it?

I also noticed some of you had problems to start the game and it crashed, I had the same problem when trying to start from total realism desktop logo, but it went fine and without any problems when I first started the main civ4 and picked advanced and loaded mod total realism from there.

First I not part of the team but maybe I can help.Yes the tech trading is disabled,I find the game is more balanced with it off.As for the inquisitor I use it to get rid of any religion I don't want in my city's that is not mine.I also have had problems with the desktop logo it says it encounters a problem and needs to close,after it says that all I do is click on it again and it starts right up :crazyeye: .I absolutely love this mod,and I never play the original game anymore.Thanks for everyone on the team who has made this mod possible:goodjob: .

Hey, how come in the civopedia it says that the redcoats and minutemen replace a riflemen but they have the stats of a musketman :eek:

That would really suck for me if I was playing the U.S. or the U.K. :(

Or is this just a civopedia glitch and it actually does replace the musketman?

Nop, I think it was Prince. I know the map is pre-made for Monarch, but I never played on that difficulty before so....I heard the next GOTM will be on Monarch, so I guess I'll finally give it a shot...

I kept the city and lowered my research. I was lucky though, won 2 battles with only ~ 20% chance of winning...
Isabella is annoyed with me for attacking Caesar, so another war is inevitable...ah but now I even have archers! :D
