These are beautiful conversions, though as you say Colonialism is incomplete (it's missing sounds).

As such, I may add the sounds and a few quality of life improvements to it and upload it to the download section with the conversion credit going to you.

We can share the credits because there are so many more things left to finish off the changes...
 
As a big Col fan I've been hoping someone would convert Eivinds Colonialism to ToT so it's great to see you guys talking about it! :)
Ironically I've always joked that his scenario was the most 'ToT looking' of all the MGE scenarios out there due to him somehow packing so much colour and detail into it. So an actual ToT version looking even better would be pretty cool!

I've been looking more in detail at your rules and events file and noticed that there are many differences between them and the original scenario's files (including new units and events).

Before I can proceed, can you confirm that these changes were indeed done by you? If so, do you have any objections if I make adjustments to them when and where appropriate?

I can say that every change to the scenery, including the attempt to add more units, was my responsibility. Therefore, you can make all the changes you deem appropriate.
 
Hi all,

Gapetit's conversion of Eivind IV's "Colonialism - The Age of Discovery" scenario has been updated to run with ToTPP. It can be downloaded from the CivFanatics download section located here.

The city, icons, people, terrain and units graphics have been updated along with a few other relatively minor changes to enhance the flavour of the scenario without affecting the overall base game play.

@gapetit did you @Catfish @tootall_2012 @Thorvald of Lym or any other ToT conversion gurus ever convert @kobayashi 's big Star Trek: Battle For The Alpha Quadrant Scenario or his sequel Star Trek: Dominion War Scenario to Test of Time? I know you guys did a lovely ToT conversion of his other big Star Wars: Insurrection Scenario years ago but I've had no luck finding any conversions of his popular Trek ones. If not then I'm guessing it's due to the lack of high quality ToT Trek units in the like of @Fairline 's excellent Star Wars ones?

I had a look around and noticed that @skulb did a pretty decent Trek set for ToT a few years back here and @Metro Polis also did a nice Trek unit set for his ToT Star Trek scenario a few years ago too so that's something. Skulb also did some more nice Trek units for his MGE Star Trek scenario that are quite ToT like in quality, and @Broken_Erika did a nice high quality set for MGE many years ago too. So using these I could probably replace most of Kobayashi's old units.

My recent work designing custom ToT GUIs for my eventual scenario conversions has me pretty confident that I could probably do a nice Trek LCARS GUI for ToT too.

As for terrain presumably the improved space terrain & city set that was used for the Star Wars ToT conversion could be used for the Trek one too as Kobayashi pretty much used the same graphics in his ST & SW originals.

However the conversion of the scenarios themselves is beyond my skills and patience lol, especially as Battle For The Alpha Quadrant uses different event files for each faction which would be a bit of a conversion nightmare.. however should any of you guys ever decide to have a go at converting them I can have a go at the graphical side of things. Worse case scenario even a straight conversion to ToT using his existing graphics would be better than nothing. :)

Hello Blake, I've never been much a trekkie, and that's why I never considered a conversion and I didn't play any scenario (although this one in particular is very complex and elaborate). I'm sorry then but I hope it will be of interest to someone else. Best regards

Fairline ToT Scenario Graphics

Gapetit, have you ever converted Harlan Thompson's "Viking"? It was very interesting - a tour of the era in the same way that "Mongols" was. The basic conversion is done, if Fairline is animated with graphics, it is done. Then it would only be necessary to check that everything works correctly...
