Hello all,

In my new role as World Congress Host I've also taken on curating responsibility for the Mods Repository subforum.
The following changes will be made in the coming days:
1) Old threads that haven't had discussion in many years, or mods that are obsolete or otherwise likely to be incompatible with current VP will be moved to a new "Mods Archive" sub-subforum.
2) New "prefix" tags will be added so that mods can be tagged for ease of browsing. We will start with "Custom Civ, New Feature, Extension, Mapscript, UI" options (and untagged for "other")
3) We will request that the subforum is exclusively used to post mods that are finished or actively in development, and not for planning, discussion, or otherwise. I.e. please keep the Repository exactly that. Use this general forum for discussion, or join the Discord (where this sort of thing has mostly moved to anyway)

Later, when 5.0 releases there will be a fairly mass-incompatibility period as many back-end things are changing in the code.
5.0 release will come with this disclaimer.
Active modders will have to update their mods to become 5.0 compatible.
After some period (probably related to the congress cycle) mods that aren't updated will be moved to the Archive. If they are updated later they'll be moved back accordingly.

Hopefully this will make browsing the rich and diverse offerings of the VP modding community much easier and save everyone a lot of time.
Cheers, Hokath

p.s. if I move something to the archive and you think it shouldn't be there, just send me a message and I'll move it back.

Thank you for this, I am a huge fan of mod-mods for VP and have improved my gameplay experience significantly.

Are there mods that are released/posted on the discord that are not posted here?

Prefixes are now available and thread owners can set them.
The difference between "Extension" and "New Feature" is a bit subjective.
Basically Extensions are additions to existing systems or re-balancing existing systems, stuff like that.
New Features add new systems or otherwise overhaul the mod.
I thought it would be helpful to differentiate these, at the very least because of compatibility (extensions often aren't compatible with each other).

editing threads is ongoing

Thanks for taking this up, it's already looking much better! Got a question though, threads for mods that changed maintainers are often messy and the most recent version is often somewhere deep in the thread and not in the opening post. Is it possible to update the OP, or would it be better to archive those and start a new thread? (well saying it made it sound obvious, updating OPs all the time would be too much work for you, still better to have a consensus about those)

For the ones I saw, I tried to add a note to the OP linking the updated version.
I'm not sure on the ethics of archiving the thread and posting a new one, but I guess if the original poster is inactive for years (as is common) the benefits may outweigh the negatives.

I can make a poll here, maybe.

i prefer this option, as it leaves it open to original author to maybe return one day and/or keeps the full development history, which is useful for new modders that take the time to read through
