Monarch is Easy?

Because the AI gets only a 10% discount and three extra starting units. Try going up, now.

Well it is only in the middle of the levels with 4 higher levels, so it should not be real hard, but I have no clue about the mod.

Rhye's mod has different difficulty levels. AIs don't get that many settlers (they cost 120 shields after all ;))

I'm in the exact same situation as you, Damnyankee. Monarch was waaaay too easy. I've heard someone saying that the gap between Monarch and Emperror is small, whereas the gap between Emperror and Deity is huge. Is that true? (Playing vanilla, dunno if that matters...) Would you recommend me to try Deity or Emperror next?

Personally, I think the greatest leap is Monarch to Emperor.

The game changes drastically to a "catch-up" race after Emperor.

Emperor to Deity is a huge step, too, but the game changes its character most from Monarch to Emperor.

IMO...

Deity is much harder than Emperor. Extra settler hurts. :cringe:

Monarch is fine to me, I don't have to take such stress because of game. So far Chieftain -> Warlord have been hardest step to me

I don't know what of the 2 disadvantages hurt the most. Judging from my personal (and limited) experience on these levels, i had big problems in being effective with only 1 content citizen per city instead of 2.

I won my first game on Emperor, so I don't think it's a large gap. But that game was also my first MM game, I think it would be much harder on Emperor with irrigated grass. Haven't tried Deity yet, but I plan to.
The big difference is that you must have MP/lux in the city to build settler.

...or you can use the lux slider, which is what I do.

All levels above Monarch get only 1 content citizen born.
