More airpower (projects&ideas)

Bebro, i´m very happy that you will rework your older units. Please keep in mind the size of the original jetfighter (MiG29 in my mod) and the F15. Or you make a rework of the original units too. I almost like your units more than the originals ;)

By the way: CONGRATULATIONS on your A-10 Thunderbolt II (Warthog). The older model i´ve been used is put out of commission now. A great plane (...and i always play the americans :D )

PS: I´ve tested it - works. I took the soundfiles from the older version. Nice 30mm sound.

I´m planning to update the Su27 and the EF2000 this weekend, below there´s a pic. First row is the old size, second the new planned (smaller) size.

Both are smaller, but the Su is still bigger than the EF, as in reality. Do you think those sizes are ok?

:)

Well, I did, the EF is quite similar to the Rafale, the Su´s a bit bigger, which is ok IMO. I think it is good as it is now, I just posted it to give people the chance to give their opinions :)

Better then making it and realizing afterwards that it could have been better....;)

BeBro, actually the Su-35 wouldnt be a completely new aircraft. You probably already know that but yeah. All you'd have to do is impliment canards, basically editting more then anything.

:sigh: I knew someone would come up with this....well, let´s see ;)

Maybe I´ll do it when I make the update....but that is really the last plane for a while. ;)

But converting the Su-27 to a Su-35/Su-37 should be piece of cake (for you, that is ;) )! Just add two small canards close to the cockpit. By the way, I think someone at Suchoj one described them as the only tri-planes in production (well, maybe not really in production - but they could have been :) ). The Su-37 is fun in that it has thrust vectoring like the F-22 and F-35. You could simply change the direction of the exhaust flame in some animation...

Do you have any plans for making new versions of, say, the F-86 or MiG-15? They make great modern era fighter animations... And if you would make a new plane, why not a MiG-19? It has had the longest service life of all jet fighters.

EDIT: Oh, I just saw Tepez2447 posted this already. :)

Well, do you think the F86 and MiG15 need updates? I thought those I made looked good, also the size was ok (bigger than WWII fighters, but smaller than these modern jets).

When I´m done with my X-COM mod (or nearly done) I´d rather make new planes. MiG19 could be one, but I have also models for others ready.

Bebro, someone had to mention it. We can't let you totally get away..

*smirks*

And Pawel, the exhaust of the Su-35/37 is a bit better then the thrust vectoring of the -22. Though heavy and big, the -35/-37 is actually the more manuverible if I am correct...but yeah. About the Mig19...Bebro, you could simply redo the Mig15. Though I'd suggest a few other early jets, ones for England, france, and the sort.

Another difference between the Su-27 and the Su-37 is the latters new extended squaretipped fins. On the other hand; simply(?) adding canards and using the bluegreen camo of the A-VMF (russian naval aviation) would make an accurate Su-33 Flanker D, the carrierborne version and the only equivalent to western aircrafts such as the F/A-18 Hornet and the Rafale M to come out of the former Eastern Bloc.

On the other topics here: the MiG-15 and the F-86 are excellent both in size and appearance, no need for a brushup there. The downsizing of the EF2000 and the Su-27 looks right to me compared with later creations like the Rafale.

BeBro:
I don't think that any of your planes really *need* updates :)! My point was only that although thay are all very nice, it is often difficult to differentiate between them in the game if they are from the same time period and have the same country of origin. This is why I tried to make you remember the early jets. :) I you really want me to compare them, however, I could say that I prefer the MiG-15 over the F-86. The reason for this is that the F-86 has distinct USAF style markings, and even though both designs were widely exported, it is easier to use the MiG as a generic plane.

Tepez2447:
I am sorry to disagree with you on this a little. The MiG-17 is quite similar to the MiG-15, but the MiG-19 is, on closer inspection, quite different. Still, perhaps the MiG-15 model could be a starting point... And with respect to the Suchojs, I was under the impression that the main difference between the Su-35 and Su-37 *was* the thrust vectoring.

EDIT: Sorry Tepez2447, I shouldn't be so critical. I'm just working too late...

Pawel, I apologize, you are correct about the main difference between the -35 and -37. And about the 19 being quite different and my talk about redoing the Mig15 model, I meant it as it'd be a good starting point, would have to edit a bit but still...But now..i'll hush before making a fool of myself..maybe.

I for one would like to see the F-111 get done, I have never managed to find a model I could use.

You are not a mathematician, are you? :) (Well, I guess then you would perhaps have written SU(10) ;) ).

EDIT: Sorry, it was a joke in the wrong forum. (SU groups are used to describe rotational symmetries.)

Yes, Wyrmshadow I was just about to request an F-111. I bet i can find something, but that is probably after I finish my V-22 Osprey. I think a thread should be started were you just post models.

Well, I know papajohns made a Blackhawk a short while ago, but I have such a nice model (I made it ca. two months ago) - it would be a pity to waste it. So I´ll make this in the next time besides my xcom stuff. Maybe I´ll do two versions, one like this on the preview, one more like those from "Blackhawk Down" (with sidedoors open and miniguns) but I don´t promise this ;)
