...Can I mix and match analog cables? Lets say I have a DVD player that can output in high definition to an HDTV with component cables. Lets say that I only have composite cables. Lets also say I have an extra set of composite cables.
Can I take 5 separate composite cables and use them in place of buying a set of component cables?

Like have 3 yellow cables in place of the maroon, green, and blue while having the white and red fill the white and red?

I think that all those cables are made of the same thing theres no difference between them except the color but somebody would have to back me up on this

You can take a wire coat hanger and use that if you really had to. The cables are just a length of copper wire, with some possible shielding. For a quick-n-dirty fix, any other cable will work as long as it matches on both sides and has the right type of connector.
