More than one leader per civ?

One of the things I particularly liked about Civ 4 was the ability to have more than one leader per civilization, but so far Civ 5 has one leader per civilization. I was wondering if anyone was looking to mod this?

Checking the XML files for civilizations, it's set up differently to Civ 4 (as you'd imagine I suppose!!) Each civ seems to have a portrait and a "Dawn of Man" image...so that's particular to the civ rather than to the leader.

It would be nice to have it back in for a couple of reasons; firstly, it's a nice option to play the same civ but have different traits and secondly (from a modding point of view) one of the main arguements I found in Civ III is that "X shouldn't be the leader of Y civilization....it's got to be Z!!"

I agree with what you said about more than one leader per civ.
I particurally thought it was useful with mods such as the Revolutions mod, were a second leader would take over for an underperforming, etc..

With that said, it seems like something they left open, but opted not to use, because (maybe) of the work required to produce the full 3D LHs.
How the engine impliments it, is another story, we could always test it out by assigning 2 of the stock LHs to the same Civ, and run a game, seeing what happens.

I fully expect there to be second leader option at some point, either between DLCs, Expansion packs, or Mods.

Well, there are no traits anymore, just an ability that is unique to the civilization and not the leader. Other than aesthetics, there is no reason to have more than one leader per civ.

In the XML however, it appears the Traits are assigned to the leader, which is in then assigned to the Civ.
Also, if you look in the Civopedia, it appears that the Trait is on the leaders page (not the Civs).

So, I would imagine that if a 2nd leader was added, one could create a different Trait for each leader. Thus a different bonus for each leader.

Not looking to spark any kind of debate on the validity of this leader or his inclusing, just using it as an example but..:
But if Hitler was created, he could be given a Blitzkrieg! type bonus instead of bonus Bismarck has.

Agreed, Edgecrusher. In my opinion, there is a need over and above aesthetics...different leaders ruled in different ways and this could be reflected in a mod.

exactly, it could work easily, just make a mod, same nation, new leader. Though I understand thats a bit counter-intuitive, but we can't select Ghandi from the Mongols like we could ala civ 4 anyways, so even having two England's to select from in the start up screen isn't too annoying I guess.

At least now there will not be a problem anymore that people complain "but Stalin was leading the UdSSR, not russa " etc, because you will not have another option than to mod a new civ in, and then you can also directly change the name.

Just noticed in the civilopedia under civilizations, it lists the leaders of that civilization...so it's pluralised. Of course, there is only one leader of each civ as things stand at the moment and it could be a mistake that it's been pluralised...but you never know!

Sorry to dig up an old thread; no value in starting a new one though if this is here.
