Morrowind!

Thats right.
Basically to soultrap you need to have a "soultrap" scroll or spell. Cast it on the cerature (may hurt as when you cast you are defenseless) and kill it. If you have a right soulgem you'd get a message "You have trapped a soul". More difficult creatures requre greater gems. Since you are a thief you should have plenty :).
There are mods that allow you to trap NPCs :). I did that with Fargoth!

If you want to trap souls, but you don't have spell or skill for it, you should get Umbra-sword. You can get it by killing guy called Umbra at the hills of Suran. He actually wants to be killed! But, he's hard to kill. He killed me couple of times only with few strikes before I used a levitation potion and killed him with bow ;) . The Umbra-sword has soultrap skill that isn't constant effect, but when you use it it lasts for 60 seconds :king: .

yeah, i'm having problems getting this spell made. I can't get a spellmaker to make this spell to summon a golden saint, and i know that i have the actual spell to summon the GS, but its not usuable yet.

Any suggestions?

Can you make yourself more clear? Do you have a spell or not? If you don't Caldera Mages Guild is the place.

Ok, i went and bought the spell "summon golden saint" at Tel Branora. But i don't have a spell scroll in my inventory. Now when i go to the "spellmaking" option on alot of mages. I have the option of having them make a few spells (Leviate, Invisibility, and Summon Golden Saint).

I click on the Golden Saint spell for it to be made. I set it for self(the only option for the Golden Saint) and i set the duration time of the spell. And then i name the spell, and it gives me the price and i click buy. Once i click the buy button i get a noise like something like a book or scroll is being opened. But nothing shows up in my inventory.

Well I don't know if you know it or not, but any spell you make shows in the spell list not in the inventory. You don't make scrolls you make spells. Other than that its probably not possible to make a custom summon creature spell. I'm going to check now....

Sorry i'm an idiot, i think i found it :P Let me test it out and see if i can summon a Golden Saint.

Well, after summoning the GS, i attempted to use my Soul trap spell on it and well nothing happened except the balls of light that circled the GS for about 30 seconds. :crazyeye:

I love the depth of Morrowind, currently I am playing a custom class female night elf(the name of the class is Mephalite, she has is a mix of all three classes, but mainly mage). I am a member of the Morag Tong, leader of the House of Redoran, and am very high up in the Temple, I want to finish the Morag Tong quests and the temple quests before I delcare myself Nerevarine. I have been to Mournhold once, and just sold some stuff, the problem was that my friend beat Mournhold on my computer before I made a charachter I wanted to beat the two expansions with, so I didn;t really feel like adventuring. I have an awsome knife, its called tooth of something, and i found it in a 6th house base in the West Gash. I use mainly light armor, glass right now, but I have a huge collection of deadric stuff at my house in Balmora. Right now I am using the Deadric Dai-Katana I got from a quest, the knife mentioned earlier, a Deadric bow I got for free by picking some locks in one of the cities, and plenty of chameleon and paralysing spells. I have been playing Fable lately and my brother says the combot is a lot more fun then in Morrowind, he says Morrowind combat is too repetitive. Does anyone feel that same way? I find it a minor issue, and it takes away none of the enjoyment from the game, infact I hardly noticed it until he mentioned it. I use a lot of magic, and several different weapons during combat, because I am fragile mage with some warrior and theif skills, so I don't have to go in and just constantly swing one weapon 50 times before an ordinator or whatever is dead. Is the combat experience that different for someone who is a full fighter? The only other character I played with was a breton spellsword, and I didn't feel the same way then either. Also, what do you guys see as the easiest way to get money? I have a simple way, my friend has found two different ways(one early on, another in Mournhold), I would just like to hear different methods because I need lots of money to make my own spells and permantly enchant my equipment. Thanks, SA.

you have to kill it to trap it's soul, before the lights disappear.
edit: oh and you need an empty grand soul gem in your inventory (or azura's star)

Sargon of Agade: What were your 2 methods? It wouldn't want to say accidently the same ways that you already use. It would be bit of embarrasing ;)

OK... been playing a couple of days now. I made it to lvl4 and recently dropped my armor (the stuff you get off assassins) and trained up in unarmored deflection (?) gives me a great chance to not get hit. question: should I go back to armor or max out my deflection???
I'm a mageblade or something like that, and I just found out you can join more than 1 guild :) So now I'm w/ mage, fighter, and thieves. I haven't been to the temple yet.
I also noticed that if I cast necro spells my healing chance goes dowm. I didn't see anything about this in the handbook. are there any other 'opposition' spell types???

You could have problems being in all 3 guilds. B/c i know with the Fighters and Thieves guilds you'll have to do jobs for the Thieves guild against the Fighters guild and vice versa.

Atm, i'm working on my unarmored too, b/c i have my main attributes at 100, so i can carry 500 pounds, so if i had no armor on at all i could really fly. But now i can fly around forever with my enchanted locket :D

And i'm still searching for that Daedric Bow :(

If youre interested in being fast you may as well enchant an item of clothing (i used ecsquisite shirt) with constant effect bound longbow, so youll have a daedric bow with no weight!

you need a sheild for deflection so i should go back to armour, as it will count as armour when its equipped, hence you wont be completely unarmoured.
spell chances drop to zero when your magica is insufficient to cast the spell, its not because of any spell school affinities.

I am not sure I want to ruin parts of the game for others, but one is trading to a person who always takes things at face value, meaning if its worth 3,000 you'll get 3,000 for it, the other is to farm an area that reappears full of enemies which drop not so bad selling armor, he can get 10,000 worth of armor everytime he hits the place, so he just enters, clears it and then exits, then enters again, repeat until he's done. So far, my money has all come through high barter skills, and raiding bandit nests whenever I find them. I could have alot more money if I could find someone who would buy all the that deadric stuff I have(I can't use heavy armor so I just keep a set around, but I have so many longswords, short swords,. ect. I would be rich, rich, rich rich, if I could sell them.) I wouldn't have the money problems. I lost a good 10,000 buying the last pieces of Glass Armor from an NPC, so now I have about 160,000 or so. The other easy, easy, oh so easy way is to make as many potions as you can and sell them to an alchemist, thats how I have been suplementing my income, it works wonders if you find one with enough cash to buy alot of yours, and I always have loads of engrients, plus I have a top teir alchemy kit. I find that persausion makes the game very easy, if a merchant doesn't like me, I give them 100 bucks and then admire them until I get the 100 mark.

Spell chances also drop when your fatigued, so that could be a cause, Paradigne...

That was it...

Also, can you taunt someone into fighting you?? working on the Comona tong, having no luck getting them to strike first...

You guys need to finish Morrowind 'quick', cuz the sequel The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion is coming out next year (Winter most likely). ;)

There is a 12 page preview of the game in the October issue of Game Informer magazine. You should be able to find some nice full page scans from the magazine easily if you google "Elder Scrolls Oblivion scans". :) The graphic looks awesome!

Hmmm, I've been thinking about buying a new game. Should I try this one out and are there any additional costs I should consider?

This game is definately worth it, one of the best RPGs ever. You can get the Game of the Year pack which includes (morrowind and its xpacks Tribunal and Bloodmoon) for $30.

Also about the selling things to get loads of money, make sure u make the trip to the Mud Crab and i gotta thank TF for telling me about that crab over a year ago :P
I've sold things that the combined worth is over 700,000 :D
