Morrowind!

Balmora Mage Guild quest: Fake soul gem.
Spoiler :
One of the quests in the Balmora Mages Guild is to place a fake soul gem in the desk of one of the mages near the entrance to the guild. She is constantly at her desk, but reciving the mission causes her to leave it & go down stairs, leaving you open to not only plant the fake soul gem, but also steal every one of her gems, no-one'll take any notice, one of them is worth $60,000. The problem is, you'll never find a merchent with enough cash to buy it, but it can be used to create a powerful magic item.
One disadvantage of this is that you will not be able to sell Gems to her later.... trust me it is worth leaving these gems where they are...

Sell gems? Sell souls!? Damn yourself for all eternity heaten, but as for me, blah blah blah, some such holy crap....I'll be saved!

BTW, how do you create items, spells, weapons, armor, etc?

I don't see a menu/window option for creating anything.... Or do you have to do something with particular items for making things? (you know, the creating items from potions reminds me of a game I once played (Gertrude? nah, that was another game, I think) on the Apple ][e in 1st/2nd grade "computer lab". (computer lab consisted of playing a game --DURING SCHOOL HOURS!!!-- for 50 minutes. They were educational though...). One was where you mixed different colored potions to create things like a canoe, bridge, etc.. (The object was to cross an obstacle).

You cannot create anything besides portions (through alchemy). There are however numerous mods that allow you to smith armour, cook food or make clothes.

You can make custom spells with one of the "spell maker NPCs". Just walk to him and pick an option "create custom spell". Best one is "alteration spell" (force 1 and DURATION 1) is very usefull for training alteration. Make a couple of "learning spells". You can also trap souls in soulgems and enchant items, but that takes quite a bit of skill.
Briefly to soultrap you need to have a gem (empty), better blue (small). Buy a soultrap scroll. Then nearly kill an animal. Cast a spell and quickly kill it. If done in time you will souldtrap a soul that you can sell for quite a lot. Repeat if needed. Soultrap spell can be found on only 1(!!!) NPC in game, but scrolls are widespread. If you are interested I will dig it up...

dose the mater alchemy set have unlimited uses ?

It's important to remember, when trapping souls, to have atleast 1 of each size gem (petty, small, common, greater & grand) unless you know the exact gem to use for the creature, because if you don't have the specific gem meant for the soul you're trapping, the soul will occupy the next size up gem.

It's a nasty realisation to find you have a greater soul gem that's cheaper than some of your common ones.

EDIT: I Googled for a list of creatures & their soul value, which turned out to be a wast of time, then I searched with Vivisimo and came up with this. It's a big weab page, but you don't need the whole thing to load. Just scroll down to the first chart, it has a list of all the creatures & their respective soul gem.

I have no idea what this Azura's Star is. I think I'll keep an eye out for it 'though.

Also, there are enchanted weapons in the game that automaticly trap souls when you use them to kill creatures. I was awarded a broardsword with such enchantments by an orc I met in the middle of nowhere, after he formally challenged me & I bashed him good.

100% yes! The better the set the better your portions though...

I think all the alchemy set have unlimited uses.

It's great to use a weapon enchanted with Soul Trap to trap souls. When the creature doesn't have much hit points left, just switch to the soul trap weapon and finish it off. :)

You can obtain the Azura's Star from a quest somewhere on an island I believe. The star is big enough to hold the soul of Vivec and is reusable too!

A spoiler if you haven't finished the main quest of Morrowind.

Spoiler :
Azura's Star is a gift from Azura at the end of the main quest.

Btw how many mods do you guys run? I think I'm running 67 atm.

Also has anyone else here played "The Underground" by Qarl? (Its a HUGE mod for Morrowind, with like 4-5 times the length of Morrowind's main quest.) While definately M-rated, it is far better than the main quest of Morrowind. :goodjob:

EDIT: I did not read the "67 mods" part of your post.... anyways I got this list a very long time ago. Where can you get it in a txt format, savegame file?

I don't run any. :smug:

Actually, because I never bothered to look. ;)

Cheiftess I've got about 200 (I am NOT kidding) links related to Morrowind. You don't know what you are missing!! There's SO much out there! Go and hunt :) Well unless you do not feel like loosing another year of your life.

Just did a search in google. You can build a city in Morrowind?? Wow, I've gotta try that! ;) (if I know how to do it...)

Oh, and I found Thunderfall. :D

EDIT: Well, I've added a rare (didn't exist) item to a shop in Balmora, and it wound up on the ceiling! I haven't gotten the hang of moving the shop yet to edit it...

Lilarcor
Better Bodies
Quick char

Wow, can't believe I miss this post.

Well, haven't played Morrowind in a long time... Can't stand the long loading screen on my P3866 computer.

The game is much ahead of its time. I own all the original and xpack(bloodoon and tribunal).

Highest level is the orc i made into 40-50s, after that everything looks pretty easy( for a melee character) as those npcs can't stand a slash or two from your 100-200 strengh character ( I wore whole set of daedric armor that buffed your character with always effect strength enhancing spells)

Well, did try a vampire or werewolve variant character later in this game. Too bad lost interest once my pc got formated and I lost all my save games.

Now waiting for ES4: Oblivion to come out. with Radiant AI things seem to be intersting again, (fingers crossed) and also Civ 4.

I think a new PC is well overdue...

My strongest character is a level 56 High Elf Adventurer with:

Armour
Helm of Oreyn Bearclaw
Dragonbone Cuirass
Daedric Towershield with CE fortify strength 45 points
Left and Right Daedric Pauldrons (enchanted, but I forgot what with)
Left and Right fists of Randagulf
Daedric Greaves with CE Long Blade 1 point
Daedric Boots with CE Speed 5 points

Weapons
Daedric Dai-Katana with 45 points lightning damage for 2 seconds
"Almalexia's Vampiric Blade", a Daedric Dai-Katana with 40 points drain health for 5 seconds
Trueflame
Hopesfire
Spear of the Hunter
"Krystal's Hopesword", stalhrim longsword with health damage
Stalhrim dagger with ice damage

Accesories
Hunters amulet of strength
Marara's Ring
Royal Signet Ring
Sanguine belt of hewing
I also have a Thunderfall :)

Buzz! Wrong! You get Azura's Ring from Azura at the end. You do a quest for Azura at her Daedric Ruin to get Azura's Star. Sorry about the double post. I'm obsesive compulsive about people getting things right.
