Morrowind!

Aha, thanks guys. Now I was able to get some needed information for the main quest.

Glad that you solved it...

I'm actually planning on getting the GoTY edition. (Morrowind III)

Reading over how much Thunderfall and XIII liked it, I think I'll give it a try. Finally an RPG for a change of pace (haven't seen too many good ones since before Playstation came around, and 3DO went under).

*looks back in this thread*

There's a place called Balmora?

That's how we locals say Baltimore here, though it's more like bawlmer.

I have Morrowind GOTY! :D
Ask if you want to know anything about the agme :)

I'm opening the box now. Just don't spoil it for me!! ;)

More proof that, if you want a good game, buy from companies in Maryland! And no, there's no ulterior motive to improve the Maryland economy... (although Governor Erlich IS trying to get the Maryland budget in the green... Yes, I work for the state, but really, there's no bias. Honestly. :yeah:)

lol I will wait till you get stuck :p

Just a question - did the construction set also install from the first CD? I know they gave a seperate construction set CD...

(well, yeah, I am stuck, sort of. In windowed mode, my mouse is gone! :p)

Yes, it also installs from the CD. And why would you want it in windowed mode? That totally destroys the point of you being there!

Construction Set itself installs from the Morrowind CD. However if you shall ever need all the objects (meshes and textures) that were used in Morrowind you will have to download them (copy them) from the Construction Set CD. You shall only need them if you want to modify the looks of things in game. It is unlikely that you will ever use it, unless you will get into modding. I hope I was clear :crazyeye:

Pictures from my first game. (some images are dark - it was night time). I named my character Spyro since the dragon face looked like Spyro the Dragon. (TF and I both agreed that the dragon looked like Jar Jar Binks, which was my first thought when I saw it). Another creature in the game preview looks like the evolved grabloid in Tremors, and still another looks like the 4-toothed creatures with a circular mouth that I saw once in the X-Files.

Anyway, Spyro begins his journey, having found his "master", slain, and inherited his armor. If you look closely enough, you can see a limb under the Claymore.

Spyro gazes at the huge, overgrown mushrooms, preparing for his aerobatics training (jumping off of cliffs).

Spyro feels something hitting his head and looks up...

It's a Cliff Racer!!!

Continuing on to Bawlmer, err... I mean, Balmora, Spyro spies a full moon.

Having evaded the Cliff Racers, and killed a few more, Spyro reaches the bridge leading into Balmora.

I don't think I've got this bartering thing down right.... What's the difference between "sold" and "cost"? Sold didn't do anything, so I tried cost (by selecting my item, and going to 0 of sold, then uping the cost). Found out I was actually LOSING money.

Making money seems HARD. Maybe Spyro should become a thief. ;)
(and I guess the robe isn't exactly armor...)

I think sold is how much stuff in gold you have actually sold to the dealer, whereas cost deals with buying more stuff.

Mage class rocks

Get a feel for the game before restarting yor charactor. I went through five before settling on mine. Once you get chameleon and Open spells you can just about steal everything in sight. (there are expections)

I would not do too much stealing. Eventually you will get caught and robbed of all the stolen items. Also Balmora (you are still there, right?) will look kinda empty if you steal everything is sight.
All I can advise to get money (stuff I still remember):
There's a house with a locked door by the 2 towers and Hlaalu HQ. If you can open it or get levitated to the second door you can rob the entire house.
Do some quests. First quests are normally easy and get you some money.
For now alchemy is not that great, but in future you can do a lot with this skill. For now you can subscibe to the Mages, teleport to Caldera, get up the tower and steal a whole Alchemist set with some ingredients. Selling portions could be one way to make money. Intially I would not buy ingredients to make stuff.
And!!!!! If you think you are quick enough or if you are a reptile (you are) you can do some pearl diving. There are pearls in about 1/4 of shells (depends on your luck). A pearl costs 100gp so you might get lucky sometimes. Western Shores or K(smth) Islands (in the south of the map) are the best places for that. I was surprised how much money I could make, but I was level 8-14 at the time.
One other thing: always barter. Even if you win one gold you still increase your Merchantile skill. This not only saves some money, but also increases the chance of you gettting a better price next time.

P.S. If you are a mage I would pick light armour of any kind for starters. Medium (local, aka bonemold) also works, Heavy is just too heavy for a person who will not do close fighting. And no robes do not offer portection to physical hits, but if they are enchanted they can be used to magical attack and defence.

Balmora Mage Guild quest: Fake soul gem.
Spoiler :
One of the quests in the Balmora Mages Guild is to place a fake soul gem in the desk of one of the mages near the entrance to the guild. She is constantly at her desk, but reciving the mission causes her to leave it & go down stairs, leaving you open to not only plant the fake soul gem, but also steal every one of her gems, no-one'll take any notice, one of them is worth $60,000. The problem is, you'll never find a merchent with enough cash to buy it, but it can be used to create a powerful magic item.

I've noticed that, which is why I'm trying to sell one item at a time. :)

@KG - yeah, I've already gotten it.

Well, I stumbled onto a new cave (Adanumuran -- bunch of wimps! :)), and a bug... I closed a door just as an NPC was exiting, and the NPC became stuck in the door! (I was able to use FixMe to get through...)

The bugged gamesave.

Hmm, gotta curious problem...

Two of my stats are in red, and I don't know why.
Personality - 10
Luck - 17

I recently got Blight disease from an enemy, but cured it...
BTW, I just finished the Talvanni quest after posting this..).

This is making me want to start up a new game, i was far long in Morrowind GOTY, had my stats pretty much maxed out, some kick ass armor/weapons, raided all of the dremora temples, then my computer just crapped out on me and all i was able to do was reformat, so i couldn't save the saved files to a disc or anything :(

One way to get money is being one hell of a thief, and sell your stuff to this merchant crab, yes a crab, who's on a small island southeast of the town of Suma i believe, can't remember the name. Starts with a "S" though.

That means you are/got sick and need to be healed and sleep, i don't much about disease in the game, since i've probably only gotten sick like 3 times in game.
