Most beautiful city in the world?

I didn't know that name, since all the place names where "translated" to a more suitable pronounciation to Finnish & German in the info package about Prague that our Travel Agent gave us. :)

BTW, is Prague named Praha in Czech? (Since that's what the city name is in Finnish.)

Yes, Praha. It's inhabitants are called Cajzli :mischief:

You're talking about the "Astronomical Clock". Pretty cool indeed.

Well Bath itself is a very nice place, easy acess to the countryside, the canal and some nice buildings.

Anyone else (I know there are a few) on here who's vistited Bath - what are your opinions of it?

It's very nice. Especially the Baths. But it's too small to be a desireable place for me to live. It's more like a vacation spot really.

Yeh it does get rather frustrating living here, lack of job oppurtunities and no big nightclubs etc. I like it here but sometimes I just wanna move to a big city like London, where stuff actually happens!

Most beautiful city I've ever been to was Vienna. Its streets, shops, and buildings are the most beautiful of any city I've ever seen.

Only cities I've been to are:
Manila, Baguio, Naga and Cebu in the Philippines;
Taipei, Taichung, Tainan and Kaohshiung in Taiwan;
Kuala Lumpur and Johor Bahru in Malaysia;
Singapore;
Nanjing, Shanghai, Wuxi, Soozhou, Hangzhou, Shenzhen, Hongkong, Nanchang and Zhengzhou in China.

From among this list, I'd have to say......... Singapore! Sure the laws are strict and sometimes ridiculous but the place is spotlessly clean. And there's trees everywhere. And shade. And no traffic. And public transport you can set your watch to. And you never have to worry about stepping on chewing gum.

You know Davo, your chances of getting a job will greatly increase if you cut your hair, stop painting your nails, walk in normal clothes etc.
I know it's not fair, but that's how it works. When I was in highschool, my grades increased a lot, when I stopped walking in pants with holes in it, millitary boots and in general trashed clothes. Once I had the grades and was finished with school, I weared what ever I felt like walking in.

A friend of mine how had a mohawk, was wearing a cap in his job interview. Once he got the job and proved he could work, he took off his cap and showed his true self :D

So what I am saying is that people will judge you on your looks, so it's a choice you can make. Change your looks, or have a harder time getting a job.

My way of thinking doesn't work like that. I know what you mean, but it ain't gonna happen (well apart from nails, there is varnish remover after all!. And i'll wear a unifrom if nesscesary).

edit - I meant lack of job oppurtunity's that I find attractive. There is pleanty of jobs working in a shop or for the MOD, but they just don't appeal o me :(

Might pay to break it down into categories. Best looking
Architecture
Sea/beach
Gardens
Trees/Forest

etc.
I agree. And beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

a) Architecture - Istanbul.

b) Natural Beauty - Cape Town.

a) & b)
- Istanbul ~ the city which many historians throughout time have referred to as 'the world's natural capital city'.

Shanghai or Sydney, as a modern day representatives?

So good they named it thrice! :goodjob: (Constantinople, Byzantium, Istanbul - may have been other names too)

Flying over Istanbul at night is something else! The Bosphorous, with the European and Asian sides of the city all lit up, is absolutely fascinating and breathtaking. Historical accounts of Constantinople and Byzantium are equally staggering. In one biography of the city I read an account of the aristocratic ladies of Ottoman Istanbul, taking to the Bosphorous at night in boats (resembling gondolas) lit with lanterns. They would all congregate in the middle where large floating orchestras would play into the night. Ah!

I've also had the great fortune to fly over it in the day too - you can easily pick out the many diverse architectural landmarks: Topkapi Palace (Imperial Palace used by Ottoman Sultans during the Empire's glorious time), Hagia Sophia (Church of Holy Wisdom), Hagia Irini (Church of St. Irene), Kapalicarsi (Grand Bazaar, the biggest covered market place in the world), Kiz Kulesi (Leander's Tower - Maiden Tower), Galata Kulesi (Galata Tower), DOLMABAHÇE PALACE (One of the last residence of Ottoman Sultans), ÇIRAĞAN PALACE (the grandest private residences in the Ottoman Empire).

The wealth, age and diversity of this city's architecture is a great testimony to religious tolerance and mutual appreciation. And it's location 'at the centre of the world' throughout history has blessed it with manifold treasures.
