Most overlypraised civ ever?
Over time I've become more and more convinced that certain civs in history are given more credit than they deserve. Certain civs in particular come to mind: the French and the Egyptians. Apart from Descartes and Napoleon, the French are a virtual irrelevance in terms of relative historical importance (progress) but they are always given a central place in histories of Europe and the West. And so many people seem to admire French culture for no reason other than fashion. Britain and Germany are far more important, yet France is often given a higher status. I am certain that the French should be kicked out of civ3, and their place given to a more worthy civ like the Spanish.
The Egyptians should be a civ. They are very, very important. But Mesopotamia is at least as important and Ancient Greece is far more important. I say that they are overrated because more people today seem to admire Egypt than the other two.
