I haven't seen this thread before, apologies if it exists. This is the most popular song when I was born and it was the same year that MTV was born. You can tell from the music video which looks rather avant garde and low budget before people had much of an idea of how music videos should look. What was the most popular song the year you were born or at least a song that was very popular.

I was born in 1981 and Bette Davis Eyes by Kim Carnes was the most popular.

Actually, the year I was born, this song was sung by Perry Como. But I prefer this one.

There were numerous other songs to choose from, some of which may well have been more popular, but I really don't like them at all.

I mean, honestly, "How much is that doggie in the window?"

I'll disown that one, if you don't mind.

Would you believe Jo Stafford was American? With an accent like that! I wouldn't have thunk it.

Aha! Now, through some clever research, I know that Borachio is born in 1957!

And by clever research I mean I googled it on the Internet.

Nope. But you were close.

I don't vouch for the accuracy of my choice, though. I just searched through the wiki entry for 1953 and spotted the song sung by Perry Como, thought to myself 'I never liked the guy'; so found a version by Jo Stafford instead.

Aha! I was thinking 1953. This thread is not limited by nationality so if there's an especially popular Bulgarian song from your year of birth you can include that or go by whatever song was popular in the Anglosphere. As you choose.

Yes amazing, Whitney Houston. I'm just amazed to see people who are adults now who don't even remember who she was.

I had quite a selection to choose from because the top 100 song will not play in my country :/

which is: George Michael Faith

According to Google, this was the most popular song in 1994.

I've never seen something that so encapsulated the early 1990's before.
