Yesterday (Nov 5 2002) 1141.

Just in time for the ram upgrade I'd say.

Can we get some demographics on how that figure breaks down?

WE BROKE THE RECORD! AT THE TIME OF THIS WRITING WE HAVE 1147 and counting!!!

It counts the number of different users that have logged on that day. Each user is only counted once :)

Does it count the users that surf anonymously? I use that so nobody knows when I'm surfing the forums.

I think so. I can see all the hidden posters. ;) :satan:

I think that day was when the first patch came out.

uhm yeh i think so i think i logged on on that ground breaking day does that mean seperate users or how many times people logged on as well?

Dec 19th was when the first civ3 patch came out IIRC.

BCLG, as explained above each user logged on is only counted once

If not, we would easily get a few thousand a day.

Talk about a case of some intrusiveness - same deal with posting styles that people use, like someone as wondering about.

IIRC? What does that mean?

If I recall correctly.

Can't you? I thought you could, but now that ;) is confusing me.

A hidden poster is one who in the Options picked the optin to surf anonymously; you will not show up in the "users currently surfing" thing.

A non-hidden is one that is seen by everyone surfing the board. Like on the top of a board it says "Users currently surfing the board" and it'll say who's surfing it.

Can you tell the difference between a hidden one and a non-hidden poster?

In phpBB, hidden users are shown in italics in "who's online". Maybe vBulletin has something similar.

It seems to be getting even better now (1174 users), but I have doubt about the reliability of the numbers.

It now says the most users online ever was on nov 8 2002, but that is today's date, and even stranger it says one line above that the number of active users today is.... 0!

Wow! A new record! :crazyeye:
