Mount & Blade: great free* RPG

Damn you! I just bought Knights of Honor and now you show me this!? Downloading... :mischief:

lol they are both very good games...enjoy Knights of Honor!!! mount and blade is that cheap huh? I better go check it out...i only played the beta when it was under development.

Well it's on sale (again) noramlly it is $29 US.

I bought it way back when it was $13 in beta ^_^ Best purchase EVER.

Vanilla M&B get's dull quickly (especially for those of us who have been playing it for three or four years already), there are quite a few mods hosted on the fourms, while few are actually finnished many are in a stable state with many expanded features.

Jeez, okay so I've been playing for the past 2 hours and a half. I take the first quest around you know, something that seems easy, "bring the cattle to town X", so I'm like level 3, trying to move those cows to that town... And I constantly get attacked by bandits. OK it's on easy so I can take out waves of 10-15 guys by myself and steal their equipment (guys from the seashore seem to carry helmets, each of which are worth more than the quest I'm trying to complete with the cattle...). Is there something I'm doing wrong? Is it normal to just constantly get attacked by bandits? At one point, as soon as I exited the combat screen after a victory, I got attacked again without seeing the world map... three times in a row. Um... Tell me I'm not getting it please?

The game has frozen twice on me, like, hard freezing that makes me have to reset my computer, seems to be when I click on responses to some NPCs talking. The music keeps playign and everything, but I can't alt-tab, ctrl-alt-delete out of it, the game is unresponsive, my cursor is gone. Oh well.

Yes it is normal to get attacked by bandits. Smaller enemy parties will run from you if they are out numbered by superior troops (although iirc they won't run from 100 peasents).

As well it is possible to have several opposing armies drawn into a abttle, so if say you ate at war with the Swadians and attack a caravan, if there is a Swadian lord and his force really close by he will join the battle against you. Or if an allied force is next to you they will join on your side. As well, since you probably don't have the bigger battles mod, you may have to fight a few smaller battles to defeat an entire force.

Those guys are sea raiders, and they will eat your children. I recommend you steer clear of them until you have a large party or at least a few good cavalry.

actually, on second thought, they seem to have been toned down for the final release. They used to have lots of throwing axes and longbows.

I'm playing on an easy difficulty level so I actually could chew them by myself. Maybe I shouldn't do that, hehe, but I'm still trying to figure out what to do. It's an interesting game. I mean, I know that there isn't really anything "to do" specifically, it's more of a "make up your own adventure" thing, but still, I'm a bit directionless as to how big my band should be, what I can expect to be doing at the level I'm at, when should I join a kingdom more officially... I mean, I see these giant armies from the other guys running around, it'd be tough luck if my band of 15 guys happened to be enemies of some of these. I'm currently level 10.

No Sea Raiders have been nerfed, at least in Native (unmodded). They used to be real beasts, but they also were from long before the Nords were introduced as their own Faction. For three years Sargoth was always Swadia's Capital.

You should try to get your band big but keep it affordable, hire teir units cost more in upkeep. In Native having say 50 of the strongest cavalry (Swadian Knights or Hired Blades even) with a high level charactor will make you a deadly force to be reckoned with. Unless you piss off a faction (by attacking them) they will ignore you. You can do errands for the lords though, and I suggest doing so. Eventually you will get an offer to join one of the factions and a small fief (a village) once you gain enough renown. Or you can swear loyalty to a King and then help them out for a while, eventually taking your own castle once you think you've worked up enough goodwill and renown for the King to let you keep it instead of giving it to another vassal.

I played the beta a bit though not for a few months, and the multiplayer is a lot of fun and can be challenging! All of the improvements are really nice too.

I played the Warband beta multiplayer for 15 minutes and from what I can tell it combines the worst aspects of M&B with Counter-Strike, with added lag and the worst UI I've seen in recent years. And they're seriously asking 30 euros for it

The best thing about Warband

All the mods will FINALLY be updated. So many modders said screw it and decided to wait for Warband to come out before updating their mods
