Movie Graphics Problem:confused:

The Installation went great, the update to patch 1.52 went great. The game plays smoothly enough all along.

Except for the movies.

They all hang in the graphics - even the Religion Discover Movies. And the Wonder Movies are downright unwatchable - frame rate is like 6 or something - constantly stopping a bit. But the Intro plays ok - it's the smoothest one

I play on a Gforce 5700 with 256MB - with AA set to Application Control.

The game is set with 1024x768 (many higher options available so that shouldn't be taxing it) - All graphic options on and at High.

AA Multipass is set at two.

DirectX Diagnostic available

Firstly, update your video drivers - current is 81.98. Download from the nvidia website. These new drivers have better support for Dx9.

It's a common bug for skipping movies as they are too big for some cards to handle plus they are poorly coded into the game. Leave the AA settings as app-controlled as you have done and switch Image Quality to 'Performance'.

In the game options, set AA to 0. The AA settings will kill it as the geometry is far too detailed for a game.
In the ini file, set Screenshots = 1, Bink 16-bit = 1, BinkCopyAll = 0, BinkInterlace =0.

See how it copes with those settings, if still has problems drop the overall graphic settings to medium (in all honestly there isn't much noticable difference in quality) then try it again. If it still skips, try low settings.

If it still skips after that, try increasing the BIOS AGP aperture to 128mb. This setting will be under 'Advanced Chipset Features' if your card uses the AGP slot.

The intro plays ok because it doesn't have the game running in the background when it is playing a movie. The in-game movies are copied and re-rendered into another buffer which makes some cards fall over. Hopefully, when the low-res movies come out these problems should be resolved.

I changed the AA to 0 - upgraded the driver. Made the changes to the ini file (only the 16 bit one needed changing).

After the ini change the movies all works - in fact it seems almost like they run too fast - don't quite know why it can't show them in 32 bit. card's big enough.

thanks a lot mate.

lol my situation is exactly the same, my settings are the same, only that religion discover movies dont lag, and i have an ati radeon 9550 128mb card

should i just do the same, or is it different for ati cards?
