So, it says I get 7 and they provide happiness. However, how are they constructed?
For example, in one game, I got 7 singles and traded off six of them to the other civs for an average of about 8 gold per turn. I was making about 50 gpt extra just for building that one wonder. When I got movies, I tried the same thing. It wasn't quite as profitable (only 30 gpt) because I was already draining the other civs of all their extra cash. All that extra cash allowed me to keep my research high and most likely forced the AI to lower their research percentage.
maybe it's mean and greedy but ...
i check the trade screen every once in a while and renegotiate trades that i already have in place, if the AI has gotten richer in the meantime. if i'm selling him fur for 7 gpt and now he has 2 gpt for trade, i cancel that fur trade and start it up again for 9 gpt. that way i get more gold but he doesn't get a new happiness resource to help his people out. i do thing like trade them the "least useful" stuff (not rice, since they'll have granaries to make it count double everywhere, here i'll trade you pigs instead), stuff like that.
not that i'd encourage you to mean and stingy with your hit singles of course.![]()
That's not mean and greedy, it's called inflation.BTW I do the exact same thing.
i make arrogant demands for cash the turn before i DoW, so that i can upgrade my troops. better that i spend my victim's money than that they get to spend it, i figure. i was surprised to find out on these boards that not everybody had thought of doing that. is it extortion, or efficient budget planning?

They are just like resources. LOL I tried to add one of them to the map with worldbuilder once and it used the wheat graphics!
One other advantage of the three entertainment resources is that their benefit multiplier (the broadcast tower) comes very late in the game. So by, say, stopping your trade of gold to the AI and replacing it with a hit single, you'll probably drop his count of happy citizens in almost all of his cities by 1--because the AI probably already has the gold resource multiplier (a forge) in most cities, but probably doesn't have broadcast towers everywhere and won't for some time, unless that AI builds the Eiffel Tower.
