Hi,

I am not sure if this has been addressed before but this is driving me crazy. Whenever I play a game and I am on the offensive, I seem to be get regularly hit by AI units that seem to move at least two squares at a time and attack my units on the same turn with no roads. These are not two movement units like Jags or horseman, but archers and swordsman. Is this possible or a cheat that the AI gets in playings? I play C3C on Reagent and Monarch level.

Thanks

Did they move into a stack so that you got attacked by units in the stack, not the ones that moved?

It might be your mind. The AI might've moved a unit into its stack and move a unit of the same type out to attack you.

I may be hallucinating but who knows. It just seems that there is no road in front of my unit but all of a sudden the AI appears and attacks. Maybe in the "heat" of battle I see things and become a little enraged when I lose a unit out of the blue! :)

Try playing Sid, where a country of a million can have a 6 million man army. I am playiing a "dumbed down" sid level game, and the unit support is ludicrous! Watch 50 horses attack in a single turn, with success, against Muskets to warm the cockles of your heart.

 I always like it when my average military service is longer than my average lifespan. I'm sure that happens a lot for the Sid AI, too.

civverguy is most likely correct. The AI doesn't get any movement bonuses at any level, so there's some type of optical illusion going on somewhere, and that's the most likely one.

If there is a fog over the enemy territory, they might have made a road but you can't see it. Often times your orignal explorer discovers the terrain, but later improvments don't show up unless you explore again or buy a map. Don't know if this is it, but it happens.

Sid invasions are fun.

Nothing like landing 20 rifles on a hill, only to see them get wiped out by archers without making a discernible difference in the # of archers you can see....

I agree with civverguy and Marsden. The AI often walks units into a stack of the same unti then sends that unit at you. And as Marsden already said, your map does not upgrade automatically after seeing it once. You have to re-explore or buy/steal a new map to see new terrain improvements.

Just wondering, but can Sid himself beat SID level? It would be pretty sad if he can't beat the level designed for him.
