I would like to hear other’s thoughts about whether or not it is a good idea to move the palace. I usually face this issue later in the game. I can see that moving the palace along with adding the Forbidden Palace can result in a more productive civilization but at the same time, the old palace is a large contributor to the cultural score.

Which is more important, the lessening of corruption or the cultural value of the original palace?

The palace is not huge contributor to cultural score, as it only produces 1 more culture per turn when ancient than it does when new-built. You won't lose the previous culture from your palace if you move it, just the one extra cpt.

When you consider moving it you have to weigh gains vs losses. You will lose some production/commerce in the area immediately around the old palace location due to increased corruption. If your forbidden palace is very close, though, that loss may be minimal. Also, you have to consider the point in the game, and the state of the cities around the new location you're considering. If it's late in the game and the 'new location' cities are low population, pillaged into the stone ages and lacking in many improvements, there's no benefit at all in moving the palace. It will just take too much of your cash flow, and too many turns, to get the new area up to par. If it's very early in the game, population/improvements matter much less and you can make your decision based on the 'potential' of the new capital region.

Sooo .. it depends. :p
