Are there any disadvantages to building a palace in a new city, thereby moving your capital? I've had the same capital for almost 6,000 years, but I'm thinking of moving it for strategic purposes, to increase productivity on another continent, closer to my opponents. Still, I wonder if my Londoners won't "feel," um, "rejected" or "something"...

The chief disadvantage is that you have to spend the shields to build the new capital. A minor disadvantage is that you'll stop accumulating that one culture point per turn in your old capital (although you'll start accumulating it in the new capital).

Moving your capital will also play havoc with which of your cities are productive and which aren't, but that can be either an advantage or a disadvantage depending on your situation.

6,000 years? That late into the game, it is unlikely to make any difference at all, assuming you can complete it before 2050.

Make sure to build Courthouses and Police Stations in cities around the current capital before the Palace jump.

i think it is not important for C3C because after you researched replaceable parts you can build faster with civ engeneer but there is a bug in PtW.you can use that palace bug if you want to build faster and less corruption.
and if you play with huge map i dont think that Courthouses and Police Stations can help for shields.maybe 15 more commerce but it is not important.yo can get more from taxmen.
