Ok, Im going to firstly ask if there is anything I can do to solve the following problems, which in turn i suspect there is not so secondly its a pleading for the developers to add to a future patch. Ok so on I go.
I have the UK Release of PTW with multiplayer. Now I love Civ3. I remember when it was released though it had a pathetic amount of preferences, to the degree you had to watch every single unit move on the map and had no choice to turn that off. This was fixed in a patch though (phew). The problem im having with PTW is the lack of feedback from advisors and cities. In multiplayer I NEVER get told ive completed a research, a town improvement, or units. Or sorry I tell a lie it does inform me as a text message on the left hand side of screen but when you have 35 cities or more its hard to remember where each city is located and you end up having to scroll through all your cities to see which one has completed a temple so you dont end up building more pesky spearman. Not only that but if u have completed a lot of improvements in one turn you cannot view everything on the text info. This causes a lot of irritation. I mean why can you not zoom to city after project completed?. If I remember correctly this was an initial failing of the MP of SMAC but was again fixed in a later patch.
Like a previous post I also think that the map should stay zoomed into combat until the combat is completed. There is nothing more irritating than attacking a unit to be immediately moved to a different part of the map to move a different unit without even seeing the combat start. Time you find your way back the combat is over!. Surely they should of picked this up on play testing and realised who irritating it was?.
Well If there are any ways to get around these niggles than I would be very grateful. Also does anyone know if any of these issues were resolved in the US! only 1.21f patch (incidently why US only?, i mean there is little difference from the US version to the rest of the English speaking world, even if the yanks do not speak proper, and correct english..lol)
Well anyways thats my ramble over. PTW is still a great addition to single player, but lets face it, thats not why we all purchased it.
