Hey! Just started up the mod, finally, and decided I would open a thread here to ask (what hopefully won't be too many) too many questions.

First off: Is there a way to set default settings for which mod components are on and off? I started a game on perfect world and it was all sorts of sad to see some of the mods i was excited for turned off.

Secondly, what are the little icons I see when I hover over tiles? The ones which have -XX?

Third, thank you for all of the time and effort put into this! I'm looking forward to playing this mod more than anything else.

There are two main types of options. The BUG options are controlled in the BUG menu, although you have to save twice in a row to get them to stick. The Gameoptions are set at the start of a new game, but can not be altered in the game, so be careful what you choose. See the Favorite Settings thread for more info.

Some other options are controlled by turning on/off segments of the XML. Since you are new to C2C you wont want to touch those for now. Do you really want a "Killer Rabbit" that can take ought Knights with a swipe of it's paw - we have one but it is off by default.

The Civ IV normal ones are not enough for this mod;), so we have added more. I am assuming you don't have Nomad Demo on as that option.

Grey hand cuffs - crime
Bio hazard sign - disease
Pile of dirt - air pollution (might be a dirty cloud)
Drop of water - water pollution

These are properties and if they get out of control they can cause bad stuff to happen. Only crime is in full effect for versions 26-27. The others will be coming into effect shortly. see the relevant concepts pages in the pedia for more information.

I would strongly recommend also reading through the Players How To Documentation thread. And in particular the third link on the first post in regards to setting up your desktop icon.

Additionally, if you are playing on an Win XP machine you'll want to set XP to use 3GB (assuming you have 3+ GB of memory) Link

Read the FAQs thread as well, as it will also help explain to you how some of this works.

Don't just start with pushing new game. Start with custom game that way you cans tart in prehistoric and all stuff like that. Also SO can you make some of the setting on by default like prehistoric start and usable mountains Also it might be useful to just get rid of the start now button all together. I know a lot of people just push play now and never get to experiemce the prehistoric era
