Mt Rushmore???

ive always wondered why, for small wonders, they havent made civ specific names for even the same thing, the manhattan project could stay that way for the americans, but be Arzamas16 for the russians etc. i dont think there are wonder movies for small wonders..and if there are...its still the same thing..just a name that reflects that civ more..im sure it wouldnt be hard to name at least by culture group a small wonder

operation hoplite(?) it could be generic...it would after all be made up to sound distinct for the country or culture group...maybe even the "mediterranian project" , romans..hmmmm...the "gladiator experiment"...the aztecs "explosion of the sun god" just an idea..lol

Statue of Liberty >>> Freedom Statue
Hoover Dam >>> Great Hydro Dam
Wall Street >>> Financial District
Apollo Program >>> Lunar Landing
Pentagon >>> National Military Headquaters
Manhattan Project >>> Nuclear Weapons Project

I don't like the non civ specific wonder names at all. I know that the examples I gave are maybe not the best as I only spent two minutes coming up with them.

But something could be done, that would de-americanize the game.

At least Hoover Dam could stay as a major wonder, and therefore keep it's name. And could Apollo Program be simply Space Program?

Fireaxis don't want to de-americanise the game, the US has the great wonder of 'Games Sales'.
Anyway Cambridge is better than Oxford ;)
And where does everyone get this info from? Its not on Fireaxis's site or major sites like ign

I think they should name it a "national monument" just as "historic epic" isn't named after any real epic history. Also "oxford university" should be named "main university" or something like that.

the greek manhattan project would most probably be called "the Demokritos project" or something like that ;) Demokritos was the philosopher who first spoke of matter consisting of very small parts, which he named "atoma" (atoms). Ofcourse he couldnt see them or conduct experiments, it was just a philosophical theory. The word "atom" literally means 'unbreakable', the smallest possible particle, so in the modern sence what we call atoms arent really atomic, since it is known that they consist of even smaller parts. The center of stydying nuclear energy and radio-energy in Greece is also named after Demokritos.
"Operation hoplite" very nice :)

Newton's Unversity is probably supposed to be an Oxbridge Uni, as he lectured at one of the two (Cambridge I think)
For the non-English Oxbridge means Oxford+Cambridge

You could call the wall street "the city" as I think countries around the world call it that or am I wrong. Its definately called that in england

What about civ specific wonders? Let America build Mt. Rushmore as a cultural small wonder. Perhaps it would become avaliable after 3 or 4 leaders had appeared for America?

EDIT: i also want the wonder names to stay specific. It's Civilization, not Politically Correct Cultural Diversity Simulation.

im still gonna stick to my guns of saying that the wonders should be generic(small wonders) but have civ specific names...Varwnos...i like your name for the greeks better.lol..great wonders should be the same abroad..but the idea of small wonders is that there cool..but not unique...so why not reflect that in the name....the pic could be generic in the city veiwer...i dunno...i think thats the best way of approaching it with out overstepping the favoritizm line

'The City' is the financial HQ of London, the name comes from the fact that it was the old London region- the original city, dunno its size ,10sqmiles I think

If Mt Rushmore is considered a small wonder there should be millions of small wonders which are more significant. Also whose idea was it to discover it with fascism what does it have in common with fascism?

I didn't think I could be offened by a game, but linking an American Icon with fascism is insulting to my father who severd in Europe from 1941-1946 and every other American who sacrificed in WW2, their families and our way of life

i think the idea behind the wonder being connected to fascism is to show the intollerance for it..not to celibrate it. my guess is that it would be a symbol for freedom against oppression and persecution (associated with fascism)

That would make some sence still its going to seem abit weird to some people. At the vry least it should not be available to a Fascist government probably not Communisem either.
