MTW (original) please help! King keeps dying

Hi, I have just had the most annoying experience in 10 years of strategy gaming. I was doing quite well on my first full campaign - (playing as Saxons). I made peace after a fruitful war with Mercia and was consolidating my new lands when... Bam! My King dies of an illness.

However many times I reload, same outcome. So annoying. My only male heir is 14!

I've tried moving my King out of his army, back to his capital. Everything.

Please help.

sometimes you can't stop him from dying, may need to accept the results

You'll just have to accept that he died and move on.

It happens, there's no way to prevent it as far as I know.

I think there's a bug in the unpatched version of Viking Invasion whereby the king always dies at the same age (I think it's 56 or something). I'm pretty sure the patch fixes it.

Since he has no heir that is of age can he just move on? It has been a while since I have played MTW.

In the end, after about 100 re-loads, I got my king to live just that one extra year needed for his son to come of age. I hope they did fix that bug in the later versions of the game.

It seems absurd that you can invest hours of your precious leisure time playing a game to the best of your skill - and then effectively have the game decide that by pure chance, you are not allowed to carry on to victory. It would be like playing chess and having your King keel over halfway through the endgame!

I know you will all say - 'but thats real life'. The point is: this is a game. And anyway: if I was a real life medieval King and had difficulty conceiving, I would do what Henry VIII did. Doesn't seem to be a divorce / behead option with Royal wives in this game..?

So the game neds when you're king does not have a son who is of age?

In Rome and M2 it just goes on to the next in line of your general/governors.
