Multi-session G&K game (GMT+12 @ 8PM)

Ah yes. A position I fear I'll be very familiar with after a few games with you guys.

Thanks for the tips above, EEE_boy (am I pronouncing that right?)

Yes, although EEE, e, or other names if you like :)

No Skiing Mech Infantry huh. Sad day. Ah well. New one is fine.

Since we are mostly not playing that game, I have to admit that I will go war with you Jake again at some point. Purely because of the geography that my capital alone was facing the Viking, so if time comes, my ships won't be quick enough to protect my capital.:crazyeye: At least til that canal city you settled ages ago has to be controlled to allow cathage ships to cut travel time.

Oh yes I was expecting you to eventually. (Basically suicide not to) The canal city is a 4 way chokepoint of incredible strategic value and the land I have up north is great. I rushed to CS for the pikes as your UU is mounted and got to crossbows quick enough to feel safe and still got my universities roughly in time with Onan I think (tho his are mighty Wats). (Last couple are just coming out now ingame I believe) Anyways gg sir. On to a new one.

I was coveting Petra. ;)

You can build it if you like - I'm more than happy to play it out since my Greeks were about to get some juicy land from both Byzantines and Iroquois :) But I think in fairness it would be better to start a new game.

Onan was talking about attack one of my cities that has Petra in it.

That game had some interesting points, but I think the consensus is to start a new one.

Looks like we might have seven players? Can everyone do Saturday? (translate for your time zone as usual...for example I think this is 1am sat / late Friday night for Islandia.)

Yep, Sunday's fine if it works for everyone.

So if that works for Islandia and zalta, we'll have seven!

Yeah, I think we used to do standard speed on these games. Islandia has a theory (possibly proved with math) that the slower the speed, the worse the military imbalances tend to be. So, unless we're convinced by that to play quick, I'm happy to go with standard.

Standard works for me as long as no one fights and wait 230 secs just to get the last damn move! I'm an impatient man. :p

It's ok if not all waiting others to move first at the end of the turn. I click finish turn as soon as my military finish deployment.

Congratulations to the winner of last game: Onan of the Maya people!:goodjob:
The Germans are overwhelmed by their confidence and could not advance into Maya land quickly enough to prevent the launch of spaceship. Germans hesitated to use nuke, but got panic and broke our words after maya people start to launch spaceship parts. that was an dishonest conclusion from the German part as well, bit it may be due to the Hitler's belly was empty when commanding the war

It seems the bunker is very effective against nuke, not sure if nuke will destroy building, but the population lost was not that severe comparing to what nukes did to the Celts previously. The logistics of the German war machines are lacking behind, no rail road was constructed for quick transfer of armor units to the front quickly to take down cities, Stealth bomber also takes two turns to rebase to the frontline cities. The remaining of the orange war citadels also creats trouble for armor units to get near maya cities. All in all, patience man wins the day! :goodjob:

Yes, Pacal is pleased to announce (although news reports are not clear whether he remains in his palace or has fled the planet) the launch of the spaceship Quetzalcoatl in 12 b'ak'tun 16 k'atun 7 tun 17 winal 18 k'in, to the stars!

This momentous event occurred immediately after or during a nuclear exchange with German forces (1941 on their calendar), whose stealth bombers and modern armour were threatening our core cities. Thankfully our engineers' bomb shelters held out against the nuclear strikes (3-5 or more?), and a late Mayan Death Robot was able to destroy the armour threatening Palenque as the ship was ready to launch. Our lone nuke was of the old style, delivered by bomber, and destroyed other units in the field. Notably, these battles were over the same terrain where the Orange War was contested. Those old citadels were of some use, after all.

A very exciting finish, thank you EEE! I think I was lucky to have pulled it off--my first MP space victory in civ 5...well, in one of the games I run. In fact, it might even be the first of these I've won!
:band::bday::beer::trophy:

Things got a little muddled there at the end. E said, "I could've nuked you." I noted my bomb shelters, but also moved my forces in for a conventional defence--they'd been located to avoid blast areas around cities, mostly. Then Hitler launched his nuclear missiles anyway...silly me for listening. Most of my army went up in that first hit, land forces anyway. I'm not sure if E then pulled back when he could've taken Tikal, or not. In any case, Tikal was building the GDR, having contributed its spaceship parts already. And even if the capital had fallen, I suspect, given what I know about trying to prevent a space victory by taking the enemy's capital in civ 5, that the ship still would've been completed...ah but wait...if I'd lost my cap, it would've been game over, wouldn't it. Well, if we survived and won through a last minute attack of conscience, so be it. If not, and we won against your best efforts, E, that would be nice to know, too. :D.

Very fun game. Glad I finally notched a win up!
