One you Civ 5 MP freaks (in a good way) please say something to entertain me!

I am bored at work, craving some civ, and won't be playing until probably Friday or Saturday.

Get some fun discussion going, please!

JK sorry!

Still waiting for you to be nice and play a teamer on my side :)

To be fair last night I played my first team game. I would limit my partners to a very select # of people, people I trust. The # of people I trust is extremely small, this does not just happen in civ, but in all aspects.

That being said, me and one of my select partners will take on any of you over there in your league.

This is civ, its not real life :P Come out of your shell and play on my side. Its your league also btw. Just as NQ is also my group.

Not my league just as Bush was "not my president"

I don't want to give away an tactics I use. I feel I have a few trade secrets I wouldn't want to disclose ( though this is not true I know ).

Paranoia at its finest!

Sorry I can't access the CFC forums at work, the Canadian Defense firewall blocks it :( And the league does belong to every player, every player is an ambassador for the league! There now we can discuss something :p

Where I appreciate your willingness to accept all of us into your group. I sadly feel you missed my point.

My point is I would not choose the league to represent me, but this is not that discussion. And even though that would pass the time, I don't want this a this vs that conversation.

All I really wanted was someone to feed my Civ addiction by giving me some in game updates or sparking a conversation. At least the latter has begun to happen though I am out of work in 45 minutes.

Limit your partners to a very select #... this isn't a dating relationship! What do you have to lose? You can't catch any diseases from this. Before the league I would partner with any random person when a team event started. It gave me insights into people's minds, how people think about the game, etc. Many times they wanted to do a certain thing and I couldn't talk them out of it. So we tried it, and I got to experience why it didn't work, instead of estimating why it wouldn't work. Many times their idea required the other team to not play correctly, which is why their way keeps getting reinforced... nobody to punish them for their faulty concept.

I learned... most civ players don't know what they are doing, but think that they are pros. When I say don't know what they are doing, I am talking about a high level of gameplay... most players I come across are still much better than the casual player. Which is why they get fooled into thinking they are experts.

I still don't know really what I am doing... but I will change any aspect of my game if I can find a better method.

Yes good team players are normally not afraid to train new players in team skills, that is how we have always improved our overall skill level, clans are especially good at this, unfortunately a strong clan scene on Civplayers has not really materialized with Civ5 due to the games core MP problems :-/

Also at work... will have to work a lot today too, bussy day @office.
Anyhow.
Fun discussion.

The CIV5 MP NooB mistake Top 100 list.
1. Make settler, walk with settler (no worrior, why would I need it, the AI never takes an unprotected settler), loose settler, rage quit.

2. Make worker, walk with worker, loose worker, -.. rage quit

3. Thinking all MP games are one city challanges

4.... Make early wonder before building an army when a rush-civ is next door. Example: turn 23 Great Lib goes up, turn 32 loses capital.

5. Quit when losing an early wonder. I.E. Quit if you lose GL or SH.

I know I do not know what I am doing in civ! I am well aware. I am quite possibly the worst civ player to ever play the game! :)

That being said I will limit my # of team partners to people I trust b/c I am crazy. Nothing more nothing less! :crazyeye:

Funny things, you should start a new thread!

6-Pick Ghandi
7-Build Stonehenge
8-Try a cultural victory(well some guys can pull off 90-100 shields mega cap city. Problem is that 6-7 artys are no match, still good against noob)
9-Try to sell a lux for gold
10-Buy a lux for gold
11-Buy iron from a neighbor(might be cheesy for underground alliances)
12-Open borders to the first guy met
13-Capture a worker with a scout while a warrior is sitting next to his city
14-Calling noobs other players while you are being killed
15-Choose the settler or chieftain difficulty before starting a game...

Civ3PTW was even worse than Civ5 in stability. But I think the difference is while Civ3 MP sucked to start with, players had no other Civ game to go too, Civ2MGE was long dead and had no active league/ladder anymore. And Call to Power and SMAC were not really seen as "Civ".

Now with the issues with Civ5, players have Civ4 and Civ3 still to play, not to mention tonnes of other good MP games like StarCraft, that didn't exist when Civ3 was new.
