Multiplaying

Ive just tried playing a multiplayer game on Gamespy, but its hard to be heard in there if u a noob.
When i joined a game, everyones ping rate was well over 2000!! Is this normal?

3 questions.

1) how do u play a game when everyone moves at the same time?
2) i heard stuff about a Ladder..is it a League Ladder that I have to join?
3) Is anyone gonna be starting a game soon?

1) By that you must mean a turnless game. Theres a timer that ticks along and when it reaches the end the next turn automatically starts. So no waiting for players that take ages.
2) There are many ladder leagues and the best way to join is to find someone (possibley on this forum) who is already a member and just ask to join. If you just turn up i here that many people just get kicked. Once your on one (and your a reliable player) its great fun.
3) I often play multiplayer games against whoever wants to play. Play me if you like or just take take a look in the multiplayer section of this forum and your bound to find someone recruiting for a game. If not recruit yourself

As for the pings being over 2000 thats not good. Try to avoid those if it can be helped. There is a chance tho that it may be how your firewall is set up on your pc or it could be caused by the host using dial up or maybe your dialup yourself ?

Civ III is multiplayer as standard you dont need to download anything special to do so.

but i got only this things new game quick start tatorial load game load scenario hall of flame preferenies audio preferenies credits exit must i copy something from the cd?

You need Civilization III: Play the World expansion to play mutliplayer. Try your local video game store, it usually runs for $20-$30.
