The Holy See notes that Poland has, multiple times, and in the very image of charity and restraint implored Russia to restrain its westward expansion, in particular light of its alternate options, in order that both states interests may be duly satisfied and the peace maintained.

However Russia clearly, after these many years, has rejected all proposals and offers put forward by Poland and insisted upon an antagonistic course of action thus putting both nations and their peoples on the road to conflict. Furthermore as recent events in France show, Russia appears to be directly intending to spread its influence in Western Europe, despite the damage to good relations that such policies entail.

As such the Holy See must condemn Russia, and dismiss its feeble cry of Polish Imperialism as out of hand and patently absurd, particularly considering the state of being hundreds of years ago is no standard to apply to our post cataclysm world. Poland furthermore has many times opened the door to dialogue with Russia in regards to an equitable border arrangement, and Russia has at all times failed to engage and has actively taken those actions which Poland indicated would invoke its anger without in the slightest attempting to negotiate a compromise. Russia here is the imperialist and the instigator of tensions, and thus should the unfortunate occur, it would be the root cause of conflict.

PS: Embargo between Romnesia and the Papal States has been lifted.

Under the condition that you've paid for the debt, partially (you said you paid 14, correct?)

If you didn't pay then the embargo remains. If you did, and you plan on paying another 14, then we're fine.

ooc: indeed, I paid 14 the currently ending turn, and I will pay 14 this coming turn, then after that Im inclined to let you do your own debt spending considering west Africa appears to be having a sudden outbreak of peace.

Depends if Namibia complies, which is doubtful.

Spoiler :
Meanwhile, Romnesia’s allies are asked to open hostilities against the invaders. With the landbridge to Namibia closed, it becomes a brutal battle for supremacy in Romnesia.

Inland, 6 Namib armies remain defensive, but 5 go on the attack.

Romney, meanwhile, leads a charge of 1 division, with aid from Sahara (4 divisions), Chad (2 divisions), Soviet Congo (1) and Uganda (2).

They meet in the Romnopolis strip, the Namibs wielding 5 armies against the Romnesian horde. With both armies colliding, there is no real “defender,” just a straightforward battle to take territory.

6-5. The battle ends in a narrow Namib victory. The blood spilled is immense; 2 Namib divisions are killed, while 2 Saharan and 1 Romney division are also slain.

Namibia takes the Romnopolis strip, and 4 territories with it.

Were my defending recruits (half trained) factored in?

Merry Christmas, everyone. Here's my gift from me to you.

Ye shall note some new columns. Let me clarify on what they are.

The Allied GDP is to simplify and speed up calculations; it is a sum of your and your clients’ GDPs, so as to speed up calculation of embargo damage.

The Possible Trade and % Trade Lost column are used to determine extra damage to embargoes. As the CSA could tell you, the harder it is for your goods to find markets, the more craptastic your economy becomes.

Simple stuff you don’t really need to pay attention to, really.

Turn V (2504)

Summary

The seas around Romnesia continue to run crimson as fleets from all over the world settle with arms but a single question: does a sovereign nation-state have the right to mark vast swathes of territory off limits? Romnesia has twice been defeated on the issue, and with its allies either abandoning it or occupied with other matters, it increasingly stands alone.

Piracy has increased in Europe, with better armed privateers targeting not just merchant shipping, but the Imperial fleet itself, paving the way for Japanese domination of the seas by proxy. The Imperium faces increasingly stretched resources, now having to divide its military between the home isles and the Gulf of Guinea.

Romnesia led a large swarm of troops against the Namibs near Romnopolis, but faced a defeat regardless. The poor quality of Romnesia’s allied armies was to blame; such is the price of minimal investment in one’s friends. The Namib Occupation Zone now extends across much of the former Romnesian nation.

Romnesia retains the world’s greatest economic clout, able to cut off 10% of the world’s trade to any state who crosses them. However, this influence alone is not enough to turn the war in their favor, with their allies’ occupation elsewhere. Poland is likely to pursue aggressive action against Russia, and the Blood Empire is occupied with Costa Rica, leaving Romnesia to fend for itself with some Spammer aid.

In Latin America, while Tropico’s new government pledges international neutrality and isolationism, Costa Rica has exacted vengeance upon the Amazonian government, conquering much of the territory and creating a puppet state to administer it for them.

Asia, meanwhile, remains an island of stability despite the presence of much open land further east. Fears that Tibet and the Indian Empire might exchange shots were not realized; many of Romnesia and Namibia’s allies appear hesitant to engage in any war overseas.

Events

One of Romnesia’s provinces has declared allegiance to Namibia; it is now considered a core territory of Namibia.

Enlistment has bolstered the forces of Costa Rica, the Blood Empire, Romnesia and Namibia.

Patriots have donated money to the government in Manx, so as to assist the enlargement of the fleet to fight piracy.

Refugees have fled from the two Amazons and from Romnesia.

Low taxes spur growth in low tax nations!

The loss of access to Gibraltar and Suez has harmed the Spammer naval capabilities. (-5 naval tech)

The low population density of Tibet spurs a higher birth rate!

Spammer armies have seen an increase in recruits, with many fearful the new Sinai government might have its eyes on the Holy Land.

Due to a staunch commitment to neutrality and non-confrontation, and the security of its trade waterways, New Zealand has seen an increase in the number of traders making its ports their home.

Piracy

63 pirate attacks. Aden, Hyontou, Tibet, Long Dynasty, Finland, Amazon each receive 9 damage, except for Amazon, which receives 18.

The Pirate Confederacy offers a deal to the nations of the world: they may pay an amount equal to 10% of their trade vulnerability to guarantee no attacks, or they may alternatively pay the ships (at a rate of 1 gold per vessel) to attack enemies. The Confederacy states that it will only attack defenseless ships.

The Pirates also announce they are willing to engage navies for a price. They can outfit some of their vessels and send them on assault missions, as was done to the Manx recently.

PS: Embargo between Romnesia and the Papal States has been lifted.

The Nation of Poland has never implored, only demanded. Russia has nowhere to expand except westwards, and all of it's other borders are surrounded by civilized nations. Poland has demanded that we cease all expansion westwards, regardless of the fact that there is ample land there for both nations. If Poland seeks to own all land between Poland and Russia, problems can be expected. Russia questions the Holy See's neutrality in the affair.

Poland's 'opening of dialogue' with Russia is akin to the burglar negotiating with you about which of your possessions he will steal. We reject the notion that Poland should own all of the largest unclaimed land on earth.

The Holy See notes that Russia could of focussed its expansion southwards into central asia, minimising westward expansion. However as is clear Russia did not do that, and indeed appears to have deliberately rejected that possibility as the surrounded unclaimed territories within the Russian demesne indicate.

Regardless, no matter Russia's position or that of Poland for that matter, the Holy See urges at this point restraint, and an entrance into genuine dialogue on the path to peace. Eastern Europe stands on the precipice of war, and that is in no ones interest.

Short Response from the Blood Empire
The actions of the Kosta Rica Dictator are horrible to comprehend. Butchering a whole country just because it no longer recognised him as a prime ally. Is this all the lesser nations can expect? To be treated as property to be owned? Slaves to be whipped back into line if they choose differently from their master?

The Imperium of Man are eager to see peace in the world and look forward to the offical signing. Perhapes we can sign the treatry in Iceland, perhapes in East Iceland as its flags are changed from Romnesian to Manx as part of the peace deal?

In relative news the Manx goverment offically declares war on piracy and seeks to clean the sea of its scourge.

Edit: the Imperium wishes to peacefully expand into the 3 areas for trade purposes.

3 little claims.png

Edit 2: change of expantion plan. See our expantion post below.

The Holy See, in light of improved relations, has decided to (excluding those already with Free trade agreements with the Holy See ofc) offer free trade deals to Sinai, Tropico, Koopa Rica, Granada and Solitude.

OOC: BTW what should the name of the war that is just ending be? I suggest the Holy Atlantic War.

OOC: World War I (post most recent cataclysm) should do. Its not like the war was Holy or had anything to do with the Atlantic.

OOC: World War I (post most recent cataclysm) should do. Its not like the war was Holy or had anything to do with the Atlantic.

OOC: it can be the Holy Roman Empire of war. ;)

Anyrate I do not wish to use "World War I." It is so cliche.

We will only accept given that Namibia accepts too, as well as all other nations pull away from the Romnesian coast.

If they do not comply we cannot risk peace with one nation and war with another, while we give money to one nation which could be used for defense.

We shall accept.

Next time you try to client one of my allies, you will not be so lucky.
