Music of Civ VI

This Mayan soundtrack :love: where have you been my whole life!

Once we have all the tracks for NFP, we should do another soundtrack elimination list.

Firaxis have said the Maya/GC OST should be available for purchase, but I can't find it on iTunes UK or Amazon UK.

I asked Geoff Knorr this question: Since you told me Martin Vejarano helped with the Gran Colombian themes (and performed in the ancient era version). I was wondering if the Mayan themes had any special performers/musicians as well? Thank you!

His Reply: I tried to find an expert in the traditions stemming from the Maya, but was unable to find someone in time for the project. As a result, I had to base the music solely on research and field recordings from the region, and the flutes are played by world winds specialist Sandro Friedrich.

So I'm certain that the developer update had the Ethiopian Atomic theme playing in the background (which btw sounds absolutely incredible). Any possible ideas as to what folk songs were used as inspiration/remixed?

I may be wrong but it sounds almost like Tizita, a type of genre of Ethiopian music that's almost like a ballad.

But I can say the medieval version at the very beginning of the video sounds like they used the krar instrument.

I'm hoping for Atomic era they'll use modern instruments like a saxophone as reference to the Ethiopique albums, at least in a way they did for Sweden Atomic.

That would be the first time they would have employed a saxophone for the soundtrack, so the sheer novelty of the idea might have escaped their thought process.

That said, I am one hundred percent for it.

I really liked the snippet we heard of the Ethiopia music! Looking forward to hearing it in full :)

I wasn't expecting it to drop this early, I was expecting Thursday.

Medieval theme is great, on the industrial and it sounds great as well.

Magnificent. I love the vocals, and the plucked stringed instrument is lovely. That would be a krar, I'm guessing.

WOW! I love these! For the first time, the medieval era theme might actually be my favourite!

After hearing the Ethiopia themes today, the music is indeed the true gem of this issue of Civ series. Civ 6 is amazing and a great deal is because of the music. Music does indeed make a suge difference for the experience.
