Music of Civ VI

Has anyone asked Geoff what the songs for the Maya and/or Gran Colombia are yet?

It's a bit too early to ask about that. I would wait until the First Listens for both are released on Youtube, or when the DLC is released.

From what I've heard, the Mayan theme playing in the First Look seems to be a Medieval version of the Mayan folk song Xtoles. They both sound very similar in structure.

Ever since I heard of that song, I've been wanting it to be the Maya's theme. (Since the Civ5 days).

the Mehter march song, "Yelkenler Biçilecek."
The lyrics for this march is taken from a poem "Fetih Marşı" (The Conquest march) by Arif Nihat Asya (1904-1975) who is famous for his patriotic poems. Here you can find the full text and even the scan of original book in Ottoman (Arabic) script.

Yelkenler biçilecek, yelkenler dikilecek;
Dağlardan çektiriler, kalyonlar çekilecek;

Elde sensin, dilde sen; gönüldesin, baştasın
Fâtih’in İstanbul’u fethettiği yaştasın!

Delikanlım, işaret aldığın gün atandan!

----- game themes go this far only ------

Yürüyeceksin! Millet yürüyecek arkandan!
Sana selâm getirdim Ulubatlı Hasan’dan!

Elde sensin, dilde sen; gönüldesin, baştasın
Fâtih’in İstanbul’u fethettiği yaştasın!

And since it's kind of an Ottoman song, here is the same in Ottoman script

English translation:

Sails will be cut, sails will be sewed
Galleys and galleons will be dragged through mountains

You're in hand, you're on tongue, in heart, in mind
You're at the age of The Conqueror when he conquered Istanbul

My lad, when you get the sign from your ancestor

---------------------------------------

You will march! The nation will march behind you!
I bring you salute from Ulubatlı Hasan

You're in hand, you're on tongue, in heart, in mind
You're at the age of The Conqueror when he conquered Istanbul

Notes:
  • Second line refers to the conquest of Constantinople when sultan Mehmed the Conqueror ordered the construction of a road of greased logs across Galata on the north side of the Golden Horn, and ships were dragged over the hill, directly into the Golden Horn.
  • "The Conqueror" refers to the sultan Mehmed the Conqueror
  • Ulubatlı Hasan is said to be the first Ottoman soldier to reach and plant a flag to the walls during conquest of Constantinople

Any leads on the Gran Colombian theme?

I honestly have no clue. All I know about it is two things: We heard the Atomic version in the First Look, and that their music slaps.

Was it the Atomic version? It sounded more like the Medieval version to me

The Mayan theme in their First Look was definitely medieval. Gran Colombia's however, already felt like an industrial theme, but there also was a definite presence of synth, a common element of the Atomic themes.

Atomic in the first look and Industrial in the NFP announcement.

Apparently, a youtuber named Peaches Lamb got the Era tracks for the two civs. Gran Colombia's is "Indios Farótos".

The ancient era matches the link above.

The other Eras may likely use two or three songs as that seems to be compositional patterns of each civ song. Hopefully we'll find out sooner than later.

Is this just me, or Gran Colombia uses different ancient era music in game? When I settled my first city I heard theme similar to the beginning of Medieval/Industrial/Atomic themes.
It's not I don't like one posted here, but I'd rather hear one that's playing during the game. It's similar case with Alexander though, in soundtrack Ancient Era is based on the classical Macedon melody, in game however, it's Slavic-Macedonian "Tino Mori".

I’ve not had a chance to listen in game yet but each Civ has a theme and a suite of other tracks that can play as well, so it’s possible you heard one of those.

It could be, let us compare our observations after few more games then :)

God the Mayan Atomic is something else. I think I may actually prefer it over Colombia's.

It seems the ancient era one i posted may have been an ambient track, since the one peaches Lamb posted is gone. At least the very beginning of each song is "Velo que Bonito"
