Just finished listening, and oh wow, even if Basil might not potentially be a great neighbour and his agenda might be a pain, I do hope he will appear in my games as often as possible. This theme is simply glorious.
Also, I suppose it's safe to assume that the triumphant opening and marching end of the September announcement belongs to Gaul Industrial. I'll be looking forward to that as well, it sounded amazing.

Okay so from the soundtrack video it seems that Byzantium doesn't have 2 themes, but it does contain the Akathist hymn in 2 different tones (Byzantine echoi): Plagal 4th and another one which I still cannot discern.
In case someone wonders about the significance of the hymn: This particular Akathist known as "to the Indomitable General" was supposedly written for Mary after the Byzantines successfully quelled a combined Sassanian-Avar siege of Constantinople due to a storm wrecking enemy ships on the city's shores. The type of hymn translates to "non-seating" as people in liturgy are supposed to stand up for the duration of the hymn.
Agreed with all of the above. They're never going to be my favourite Civ to either play as or against, but I think France finally have been toppled as my favourite Civ theme!
(on another note - no pun intended - I am really hyped to hear what Gaul's music will be like...)
I wonder what the ambient tracks will be. Will it be all sacred chants and hymns or will they include some secular pieces? Christodolous Halaris has some recreations of secular Byzantine music that would be nice to be included to show Eastern Rome didn't just make only religious music.
