First of all it's been far too long since I've started a thread myself. But that doesn't matter.

The subject has been addressed before, but that was definitely a metal fan, so it wasn't really a good poll, from my point of view.

But I'm making this poll again because I just love music very very much and have been to several concerts too. And now I've lent Linkin Park from someone and it's just great! ;) Anyway, I have a very strong musical taste: symphonic rock. Like Dream Theater, Marillion, Porcupine Tree, The Gathering, Yes... Though I like normal hardrock and metal as well. But I do wonder what the average taste at CFC is. :)

You should've putted 'other'.

Soft rock / rock'n'roll / classic rock

That's pop(ular rock). And I haven't included other, because the vast majority will vote that and then I'm not one step further. Just choose the one that is closest to your taste. :)

The beatles, queen, led zeppelin and pinkl floyd are pop!?!?!

Beatles: yes. Led Zeppelin hardrock I think. Queen and Pink Floyd are definitely progressive though. ;)

But come to think of it, rock 'n roll is missing. I should've added that one as well.

How about me? What's my style? Cause the thing I hear the most is my guitars and my drums. Also, I find the term "classic" too wide. The difference between Bach's aggrresiveness and the great rythm of the south american choruses is much bigger then the difference between metal and pop.

edit: What? Beatles are pop? Listen to a britney album of your choice (they're all the same anyway) then listen to 'Abbey road'. You won't find any similarity what-so-ever. Queen are defenatly not proggressive. They're simply rock! Yes, there is such thing as plain rock and that's just what queen are.

How about 'all of them'?
I like jazz and blues.
I also like house & dance, usually on parties but sometimes I hear it at home too.
I also like to hear pop music on MTV sometimes.
I have a few albums by the beatles, I don't hear them all the time but I hear them sometimes when I like it.
I also like the cardigans, the offspring and some others.
I also like playing classic music and israeli music in the piano.
what the hell am I supposed to vote to? :/

Oh yeah, I also have a 'voices of the world' disc I like to hear a lot.

OK, I voted for rock because those are the types of CD's I listen to - but there's a wide variety. I hate listening to most recorded jazz, I just find it hard to get into, but I love to play it and go to concerts. Classical is also cool because you can pretty much predict where the melody is going to go (you could say the same about rock or pop or especially techno - which btw rules!)

Why don't I just say this - I hate country music and a lot of rap, though rap is cool when it has something to say. When it's not just about pimps, "ho's", and "bling-bling." The thing I like most about that kind of rap is making fun of it :)

Sorry Matrix, you're not getting my vote :p

I'll start off by saying "I like almost all music". The list of what I don't like is shorter:

Most country
Most rap
Marilyn Manson, etc... (not sure what category you'd call that)
Britney-esque Pop

Other that those, I like all sorts of stuff.

Industrial?

I like most all except for country, which I don't hate, I just don't like it. I guess I am going to vote for Pop.

Like andy and others, I like a wide variety of music, so will have to hold my vote in this situation.
And the Beatles are not pop.

And the official length of a piece of string according the Evil Office of Office Products is 15.346 centimetres.

There must be some kind of music you prefer?

If you really don't have preference at all, you might vote for "pop" as you might consider that "radio music".

So if I hear rap on the radio it would become pop? It seems strange to me that with all these people who like a variety of styles the one who choses to do such a poll understands almost only about heavy rock

One cannot easily categorize my musical tastes, not even nominate which "kind of music" I prefer over all others. I don't go for "radio music"...I'll hold out as a multiple choice.:)

I didn't vote for anything. :p I'm not represented by this poll! I like some mainstreme country, but I most fond of bluegrass and alt. country.

Ok, so it seems to me that hardly anyone's taste is represented by this poll. Why? Because it doesn't have enough options. It can't possibly have enough options, and that's not Matrix's fault. Just for interest's sake, I went into my Winamp and got a list of all the 'genres' that had cycled through it in the last 4 months.
