Okay, we've all been assured by firaxis that the soundtrack to Civ III will be much better and more interactive than it was in Civ II. But no matter how good it is, the music will have been designed to please everyone, and in doing so will probably really appeal only moderately to any given individual.

So my question to you: What sort of music do you hope Firaxis has provided? and if they haven't got anything like it, what sort of music do you plan to conquer the world by?

Personally, I plan on listening to the provided music for a while, and then switch to the Gladiator Soundtrack for some empire building spirit. Later in the game, I think a little Russian music (like the Russian Naval Hymn, from the Hunt for Red October) is called for, as I roll over my opponents.

i think some good ol golden oldies tickle my eardrums... just kidding. i'll prob just either listen to one of my many rock cd's or just my mp3's on the comp... nothing special... or maybe ill put in phantom of the opera :D j/k again

Hopes.
Music fits current Age/Civ that your playing.

But i would wait on the game to come out to real know how far they went with the interactive music feature.

I think "Hell March" from Command & Conquer: Red Alert would fit nicely in just about any time period. I'll definatly play it during a WWII scenario. Of course the Imperial March from The Empire Strikes Back would play nicely as well.

You know any music that inspires fear into the masses, or involves millions of men obeying my every whim is the best music there is. Bwaahaha!

i never thought of hell march, one of my favorite computer game songs:D

If the Civ3 music isn't any good, I'll listen to The Fall. All other music sucks*.

*This is a gross exaggeration. I am fond of most forms of music, "Country" being the one exception. I associate "Country" music with Republican Conventions and therefore cannot tolerate it. However, I still like Wagner, despite his association with a certain ill-conceived German government. Oh, come to think of it, Fleetwood Mac suck. So does Hewie Louis and the News - complete crap that never should have been set to vinyl, or whatever it is you kids listen to your music on now-a-days. Hmmm, soft-rock has a stomach turning quality to it as well. So does anything by Eric Clapton. You know what, I was right: All other music sucks. So just skip this footnote and move along.

Hmm, I think it would be neat if we could get a list of music that would play well both by 1. Civilizations and 2. State of game (aka War, Exploration, Isolation, etc)

War:
Gladiator Soundtrack
Cake - The Distance
GI Joe The Movie Theme :)
Danny Elfman - Army of Darkness Theme (March of the Dead)
Conan The Barbarian Theme
Saving Private Ryan Theme - Hymn To The Fallen

Exploration:
Stargate Soundtrack
Steppenwolf - Born To Be Wild
Nine Inch Nails - Where is Everybody

Isolation:
Bush - Letting the Cables Sleep
Beetles - Fool on a Hill
Doors - The End

Spacerace:
Nine Inch Nails - Starf***ers Incorporated
Galaxy Quest Theme

Nuking:
Nine Inch Nails - The Day The World Went Away

Espionage:
James Bond Theme (Would be better with spy units :/ )

Harder to do for Civ's though.. probably a bad idea

Germany:
German National Anthem
Pop Will Eat Itself - Ich Bin Ein Auslander
Rammstein

Zulu:
African Bush Dance

Americans:
The Patriot Soundtrack

How about Ride of the Valkyrie? Da da da dum, da da da da dum, da da da da...

I will listen mainly to the music they provide, it sounds like there's going to be a good collection. However, when I go into a major war it'll have to be my "Eye Of The Tiger" Mp3.
:goodjob:

I think a good song for war would be Ozzy Osbourne's 'Thunder Underground', from the album Ozzmosis. It rocks! :D

I don't know where that came from. I think of it more the oppisite, because it always seems to be country stars who play for democrat's campains. In either case, I still don't like it - The beat kills me!

I will have to say I will be listening to whatever is on the radio at the time. And I listen to country music. Therefore, I will be listening to whatever country music is on the radio.

i read somwhere that the suicide stats in the US rise when theres alotta country music playing......

either way, i just use my mp3 (mainly cuz the music isnt working in civ2) but i recently fixed the music in civ2, so ive started to listen to it again.... come to think about it, the civ2 music is awesome.......

It doesn't really matter what the music is like, it will still not be as good as any given Japanese VGM.

*Naive*I think I'll be a popular poster here!*Naive*

Shouldn't this be on off-topic?

Jeez! Sorry to invade your music nest!

Which thread do you mean, Chive?

how about making the mistake of assuming the discussion of "best civ" as that of the "best-outside-game-country".
;)

though i'm sure it's all in good fun, even if some threads are a tad off-topic.

Hey Chive, put your gun away!

I didn't make that minconception, I know the difference between a CIV and a real nation, OK?

Anyhow, It was one YOUR countrymen who made this mistake in the first place!

Have fun!:goodjob:
