Is anyone else experiencing this? The first time I start the game after a daily computer shutdown I must reinstall the game. If I restart the game without having shutdown the computer then the game starts as it should.

Plus, after each verification process by steam I am told:

"1 file failed to validate and will be reaquired".

Obviously this file is the one that requires me to constantly reinstall the game, but I am not given a filename.

I would like to be able to save the file and just reload it instead of going through the reinstall procedure.

Why is this file not being saved when I shutdown my computer?

Any thoughts?

Perhaps that file is being deleted by an antivirus or any other program which could detect it as a harmful file. Of course, it doesn't make sense since CiV doesn't contain malware (AFAIK) or anything else strange.

The best I can suggest to figure out which file is, is by looking the steam logs (located within steam folder).
Perhaps if you lurk onto the logs you may find out which file is the problematic one.

BTW: Do you have deepfreeze or any other program that deletes files on startup?

I have gone through my virus checker logs and not found anything that I can't identify, so I don't think that is it. I don't have any program that deletes files on startup - I'm too much of a control freak to let that happen

I do run Ccleaner, Ad-Aware and RegScrupXp daily when I first startup so I went a couple of days without running these and still had the problem each day.

I will go through the steam folder and see if I can identify something. Thanks for your time and the advice.
