My direct x will not update....

I have 9.0 (4.09.0000.0900) Which is the first version of 9.

When I try to run the update, it says it's done installing, but it never really installs anything.

Any suggestions?

Run which update? The DX update available from MS? Or the DX update that runs during the game installation?

its a known bug with directx9c. Says it is isntalled but really isnt. Hence I am stuck on DX9b.

And since its part of your OS you cant uninstall it without reinstalling windows.

Try updating to one of the other versions of DX first, then going to 9c.

could you uninstall directx completely and then install the new version of it from scratch?

I'm going to try to install 9.0b tonight. Hopefully that will work.

I installed 9.0b, but the game still requires 9.0c, am I screwed unless I format?

Oh, and 9.0c still will not install over 9.0b

Installing SP2 for XP should force it to update to a newer version of DX. Thats if you're running XP though.

I do have SP2 installed.
