Havent settled yet need to move locations to be on the coast. (I read that its not worth starting 1 square in from the coast?)

Don't beleive everything that you read. If you move away from fresh water (ie lake river), then you would have needed an aqueduct to get above size six. Although you have the lake in this case so your safe.
