useally when i start the game the main menu shows up and the civ 4 theme is played. then i launch a game in 4000BC but the music is so low so you need to hold your breath to hear it. today i got normal music on 4000BC but when i exit to menu the main theme in menu is low like the in game music were. does any one else have this changing music volume or know a fix for it?

today i discoverd that when i zoomed in the music went higher so i could hear it, just like when you zoom in on a pig you can hear it better. is it supposed to be like this with the music?

Well, according to Jeff Briggs,
Jeff Briggs said:
In the early stages of the game, there is very little music in the “soundtrack” (music that plays while you are playing on the main map) and what is there reflects our idea of what stone age or very early music might have sounded like (lots of log drums, wood flutes, and other percussion sounds – even grunts and vocalizations of various sorts), but of course seen through the eyes (and ears) of modern day composers. When “Music” is discovered and researched by the player, he begins hearing great music from history – medieval, renaissance, classical, romantic, modern, and so on, as time goes by.
Yes, in the early stages of the game, there is little to no music. You can adjust the volume under the options menu, but it doesn't go too high. Just get to Music and the music is much better (kind of a motivation to research it, isn't it? :)).

When you zoom in, you hear the music that has to do with the particular cuture that you zoom in to. If you zoom into an opponent's or your territory, you hear their "theme song" so to speak.

I'm not sure what the whole deal was with the main music not playing loudly, so you'll have to get someone else to comment on that.

ahh ok thnx, thats probably why its about no music. i will adjust the volume on the medival campain so i will have a normal volume when i get it.
