I'm playing an Archipelago map as Ragnar and have just wiped out Shaka and Roosevelt earlier. I have gotten Astronomy and therefore am now able to choose whichever civ I want to attack next (going for conquest here). Nobody else even has Optics, so everyone is quite backward, except Frederick who managed to get Feudalism and Philosophy all on his own. Do I take Huayna Capac for te Great Lighthouse, Frederick before he gets Longbows and extort techs from him or Peter for the Great Wall (I'm leaving loads of empty space here so barbs are an issue) first? Or something else?

Well one thing I noticed about the great wall- Im playing a terra map, and I built it on the AI continent. Now I have two cities in the "new world" where there are lots of barbarians. They come and go as they please and the great wall has no apparent effect over there. So....... If you are on archipelago, I wouldnt put much weight on grabbing the wall because its liable to only affect the land mass it is on. Not sure about it, only what Ive said from my own exoerience here.
Personally, without seeing the game or knowing anything about it, I would say the lighthouse sounds like a winner.
