If you want to experience awesome colonial wars, do civ IV. I just tried a game with YnAMP with Britain and you can realistically recreate most of Britain's colonial empire but for some reason none of the other powers ever bother to cross the ocean and set up cities. Not even spain...

30 turns of anarchy? o.o ...that's kinda intense... but realistic nonetheless.

Oh, that's interesting. I really want colonial conflict in my stories.

A New Dawn has a much longer colonial period because of the tech tree and the 30-turn anarchy is really only there if you do an advanced start and switch out a butch of civics at once. You can even limit the units per tile in A New Dawn if you want to get a CivV feel (just feel, it's still different on many levels but you can allow limiting stacking as well).

But it depends on how important all of that is to creating a setting, you could probably get to the colonial period faster in CivV.

Civ 5 Please!!!! I've tried britain with YnAEMP on civ 5 and you can create the entire empire with true resources. The farthest I created was India though. But it would be interesting!

But I want colonization wars, and you don't really get that with Civ V in the YnAEMP (despite how amazing it is).

And Civ V is kind of a computer hog, which will really effect my gameplay as it progresses.
