My "vacation" thread.

hmm.. this would be a neat feature in mapstat or civassist.. an ability to locate all automated workers..

Now you know why some of us don't automate workers.
I don't think I'd automated workers in well over a year, but with 400+ cities and 90% of my terrain railed and irrigated/mined, I just wanted them to do whatever old improvements came to mind in what was left of Mongolia, Greece and Korea.

Hunting them down was easy enough. I just disconnected all my sources of Iron and Saltpeter. That got their attention. ;)

I abandoned my Emperor game for good tonight.
Never say never. I've gotten old enough :( and wise enough :) to learn this well. Before trashing the game directory (all one gigabyte plus of it) I did copy a few .savs over to an archive, just in case.

So, I'm going to reload it and see what I can do to salvage the game or bring some meaning to the 100+ hours it represents.

EDIT: According to MapStat I've got 45% of the map and there's 20% unclaimed. If I ignore the waste shield warnings, I can easily cough up hundreds of Settlers next turn by switching all my current builds. If I ignore Carthage, I can easily waste the Mongols next turn as well. If I ignore my citizens happiness and rights, I can whip cultural buildings in my coastal cities.

Ignorance is indeed bliss, and in this case bliss is Domination in a few days, er, turns.

Persia pissed me off with a surprise attack while I was going for Domination. By the time I my wrath began subsiding (which was about the same time I burned their last city down), I realized that the behometh Persian empire had already slain all remaining AI....so, I got my Conquest win towards Mach.

Anyway, a nice (and hopefully) quiet Tiny/Demigod Space win will make me a Quartermaster.

Last night I decided to play a conquest game (Regent level) on a tiny map with the Persians (went straight for IW). I did manage to destroy one of the civs almost immediately.

Well anyway I did really good (at least for me) and managed to win a conquest game in 630 BC. I thought that was pretty fast so I figured I'd check the HoF and see if it was worth submitting it. I didn't even have a chance! 10th place for conquest on tiny was still aroun 3600 BC! Oh well, at least I had fun as that was my first conquest victory with any version of Civ3. I'm typically a builder.

Yes, I'm afraid you picked a "Trick Game" setup. You can only win by 3600BC with the Aztecs or the Incas and both the AI civs need to be close by.........and you need Luck! ;)

I'm now playing a Demigod/Tiny/Pangaea as the Iroquois for my SpaceShip run. Instead of focusing on Marketplaces and Libraries for research rate, I'm instead going for Courthouses and Barracks. I'm going to whip up a huge Mounted Warrior army and make sure the AI never has a chance to screw with me.

Then I'll build a Spaceship and launch it.

Tiny maps haven't been going so well for me. I'm going back to a larger mapsize where I'm more comfortable/experienced.

I wound up trying Tiny/Pang again, but with different opponents and it's made a world of difference. At 410bc, I've gotten my first MGL while my Mounted Warriors have their way with India, or what's left India anyway. The Mongols are proving very useful allies.

Barring a disaster, this map will have my Spaceship launched from it, carrying me to the Quartermaster's Club.

Mapfinder's now running Deity/Huge for my next milk.

EDIT-I wiped out the Indians by 270bc. That's the fastest I've ever wiped out an AI above Chieftain! :D

The Mongols are getting their asses kicked on all three fronts (two peninsulas, one island). It'll take a few days to get to the spaceship construction/launch, but the map is mine, and with it the rank of Full Quartermaster.

My milk run will deserve it's own thread. This "vacation" has been fun.
