Nothing's come up so far. they're talking about graphics and how they make it work on a range of different levels of tech. and on 'buisness laptops'
EDIT: Implied that there's no OTT protection on the disks but saying that they're letting people play wherever they like (on planes etc) and that 'alot of their fans might want to [instal CiV] on more than one computer' meaning not THOU SHALT BE ONLINE, and probably no multi install restriction. Woot.
I popped onto this 10 minutes ago. It was mostly engineer-o-babble regarding graphics. Basically they were stressing the wide range of machines they target for the game. What precisely they mean by "low end" is a little iffy, but they designed primarily around someone being able to play on a "business notebook".
Not much new. A bit about how they've emphasized the game running smoothly even in the end game. Making sure that the graphics engine shouldn't put any limits on gameplay decisions.
They're also testing the game on a notebook not designed for games (not low-end, but not high-end either). Civ should be able to run on that machine. Didn't give specs, though
As the interview was about Intel GPA 3.0, it was obviously mostly about graphics.
Hiring Dan Baker, who currently is Civ5 graphics lead, Firaxis landed a hit. Dan was one the designers of the D3D interface of DirectX for Microsoft, as this older info says:
"Dan is a software design engineer on the D3D group at Microsoft, where he has worked for the last 6 year. While there, he has helped designed D3D 8.0,8.1,9.0 and the soon to be released D3D 10. Although Dan is the technology lead for Microsoft's HLSL (High Level Shading Language), he still finds time to speak at numerous graphics and gaming conferences such as GDC and I3D, and also stay involved in ongoing graphics research in real-time reflectance. His current areas of interest are anti aliasing and level of detail of reflectance models."
